Luk 4:41 And demons also came out of many, crying, "You are the Son of God!" But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ.
According to Mat 4:6 Devils were good at quoting scriptures.. So how didn't they know that the Christ will die for our sins?
Mat 4:6 And said to him, "If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, "'He will command his angels concerning you,' and "'On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.'"
----------------
So neither disciple not devils knew that Jesus would die for our sins... which proves that the death of Messiah was not mentioned in Old Testament or taught by Christ himself.

But what about Jesus himself claiming that he will die for our sins... didn't they understand him too?
And what about the disciples? Why didn't they expect the resurrection of Jesus and were surprised to see him alive?

Gary, beta_fishy and chapelite;
Here is the proof that the devils didn't know:
Luk 22:3 Then Satan entered into Judas called Iscariot, who was of the number of the twelve.
Luk 22:4 He went away and conferred with the chief priests and officers how he might betray him to them

This question could have been structured a little better.
Although there was no indicator that any demon was aware of the whole crucifixion thing, there were no indicators to the contrary either. For all we know, the situation could have been similar to the situation concerning Job.
At any rate, I'm getting tired of defending the New Testament. I have every reason in the world to believe that it is an inaccurate depiction of the actual events surrounding Jesus's birth and death, That's not to say that I think that it's all just a bunch of malarkey. I'm sure there's plenty of truth to be found in it, but, dude. You'd have to be blind to miss the fact that everyone that wanted the New Testament created, translated, and enforced had an ulterior motive.

Isaiah 53...apparently the devils had trouble discerning the word of God as can be said of your prophet. The disciples did not know? perhaps you should read the Gospel again.
Mat.16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
You are not reading the Gospel of Jesus Christ or you too are having problems discerning them.
Your points are nonsensical because the devils know some scripture means thay are aware of all scripture? If this were true your Qu'ran would not be such a mess. The Deciples knew and prayed with Jesus before the crucifiction. When Satan tempted Christ did he know that Jesus would overcome temptation? Many athiest and Muslims know scripture and yet refuse to believe it you prove this point.

Isaiah 52:14-15
Isaiah 53:1-12
read this verses, the coming and death of Jesus already mentioned in Old Testament.
Mark 8:31, Matthew 16:22-23, Luke 9:22
Jesus already told His disciples about how He will die.
Luke 24 : 13-35
This will explain you why the apostoles forgot what He was saying
read the Holy Bible more often before you make a statement

Knowing and understanding are not the same.
Jesus taught his disciples, and yet he frequently rebuked them for not understanding what he taught. Even near the time of his death they still did not understand that he was going to die (Mark 9:31-32).
But how do you come to the conclusion that demons didn't know? Matt 4:6 is about Satan trying to tempt Jesus, so that he could destroy his plan of salvation. It does not reveal what Satan knew and did not know about Scripture.
If you want to claim that Scripture does not predict that Christ would die for our sins, then you will have to prove that those Scriptures that were quoted in support of that did not exist before that doctrine. And I believe that would be impossible.
The prophecies of Christ's salvation start in the very beginning of Genesis, and there are hundreds of them. They were not stealthily inserted without anyone knowing.
But the Bible says over and over that the understanding of the Scriptures is not open to anyone at any time. For example:
Daniel 12:9 -- And he said, "Go your way, Daniel, for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.

Where does it say they they didn't know or understand for that matter the purpose of Jesus in the world. I know of no such scripture. In fact it is my contention that Satan was responsible for the attempted stopping of the crucifixion via the premonition that Pilot's wife had as she begged Pilot not to have Jesus killed. These Angelic being were with God an knew what God wants to do for mankind. I guess you don't know to much about the Bible to say that there is no mention of the event. Maybe you need to brush up on the Palms a bit.. Pay close attention to the 22nd.... Jim

The demons in Luke knew they faced a more powerful adversary than they had ever faced before, he could only have been the Son of God, thats how they knew...In Matthew 4:6 the devil quotes scripture (I believe a Psalm) incorrectly and out of context...The disciples definitely didn't understand about Jesus' death until after it happened, so I guess they didn't really know he was going to die for their sins.

Well...read the Old Testament and the New Testament and you'll see that:
1) The Messiah and His death WERE mentioned in the Old Testament (see Isaiah for starters)
2) Jesus did prophesy his own death and resurrection, on more than one occasion in the New Testament. He also proclaimed his identity as the Messiah on more than one ocassion in the New Testament.
What makes you think the devils didn't know that Christ would die for the sins of all men?

The demons knew Jesus was the Lamb of God. The redeemer of mankind.
They (satan, devils & demons) knew & know who He Is, but they don't confess Jesus Christ their Lord & Savior. They don't trust & obey God.
In Mat 4:6, that is the devil tempting Jesus to doubt who He Is, the Son of God. The Devil knows Jesus Is the Son of the God. Jesus taught us how to respond to the Devils temptation. He started with, "It is written...".
Jesus told the Disciples about this, and they understood it more clearly when He raised from the dead. It then made sense to them, all He said about the cross & resurrection.
Just like doubting Thomas, when he put his fingers in Christ wounds after the Resurrection, Thomas confessed, "I believe, my Lord & my God.".
So, sorry, what you write in your question is wrong.
Regarding the Judas thing. I think satan saw an opportunity to get Judas. So, also knew the scripture. Jesus allowed satan to posses Judas. By dipping the bread in the fruit of the vine for Judas. Satan entered Judas then. Sad thing is that Judas loved money more than Jesus. Satan knew that. Satan got Judas. Judas isn't in heaven with the Lord. When Jesus was the Lamb of God and raised from the dead; satan took it out on Judas who hung himself & bowels burst all over. But that was also prophecied to happen. Well that Judas would receive 20 pieces of silver for turning heal against the Lord.

I don't have a clue what Bible you're reading, but not only did the Old Testament say that He would die for our sins, Jesus also taught that He would.
As it is written: "But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth." Isaiah 53:5-7 (NIV)
And
"Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors." Isaiah 53:12 (NIV)
Here's Jesus testifying that He would die for our sins: "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." Mark 10:45 (NIV)

First I want to start off by saying that I have understanding for those who have a knowledge of the scriptures but can not see how some things tie together. I work through that constantly. But I encourage all who seek to truly seek. It is called faith. We do not always get our evidence first and sometimes we must trust in God in order for our own faith to be increased.
Pray to God out loud with an ernest heart to know truth, then believe He will give truth as you investigate. God does desire that we would have an intelligent faith, no a blind one.
From the beginning in the garden it was set up that there could be no remissions of sins without the shedding of blood. We see this because after Adan and Eve asserted their will over Gods will(which is sin), God covered their nakedness with skins. This would mean that blood was shed in order to make them right with God agian. All the sacrifices through time were animal, God never allowed or ordained human sacrifice.
Jesus ,AKA the Messiah, was also refered to as a priest. The priest would offer up the sacrifices to bring forgiveness from God. Perhaps Satan and all under his control thought that if Jesus was killed that we(sinners) would have no one to offer the sacrifice to finally put us in right standing with God. I do not Know.
I do know that even Satan and the third of angels that fell from heaven with him are created beings, therefore limited. God is the creator therefore unlimited. These limited beings could not begin to out think God. reflect on these passages of scripture.
1 Corinthians 2:16
How could they? For, "Who can know what the Lord is thinking? Who can give him counsel?" F11 But we can understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.
1 Corinthians 2:11
For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.
Matthew 25:13
"So stay awake and be prepared, because you do not know the day or hour of my return.
