The maid is going to visit her family in India and I gave her 60 bucks. Is that a generous gift when converted to rupees, seriously?

I'd say it was pretty decent of you to even tip your maid anything! If she gets a regular salary, that's all you are obligated to give her.

Best wishes!

It was nice of you to give your maid some money to take with her back to India.

I wasn't sure about the conversion myself. So, I found the link and have included it below.

It looks "o.k." to me, but I don't know about inflation in India. I hope the maid was happy with your gift.

Nice gift. It's always nice to give a little extra to those provide a service to us. She probably needed it. I have a friend that goes home to India every few years and she always takes a boatload of gifts. She's not wealthy, so it gets expensive.

It's kinda too late now, huh?

If she is actually your daily "maid" then that was not much at all. Not by any means.

If she comes in once a week or every other week and cleans your house and then leaves, that was nice of you and not necessary, so it would be good even if it didn't convert generously.

At one time, one week's salary was considered an adequate bonus/gift.

That was really sweet of you to think of her like that, and I'm sure she thinks so too. Good for you. I'm sure she's very happy with it, and I'm sure she'll share the story of your generosity to her family.

It's generous enough.

I'd say that 60.00 was more than she had before you gave it to her . For a gift, that sounds like it will be appreciated.
