Simply stated - the answer is yes.
Go to a bookstore and pick up a study Bible. If you don't know which version, etc, then start with an NIV, perhaps "The Quest" NIV study Bible.
Pray and ask God to reveal Himself to you.
Then, I would suggest reading Luke and John in the New Testament.
After this, if you are truly serious and seek truth, I would suggest reading and studying the book of Romans, which is a full explanation of true Christianity. If only most Christians knew and held to what Romans says and teaches! Commentaries and Expositions can also be very helpful in explaining scriptures. So, for Romans, consider Matthew Henry's commentary - one of the most well-respected commentaries by Christians of nearly all backgrounds.
Seek...and you WILL find.
The struggles you speak about are not unlike the author of the book of Ecclesiastes in the Bible (and the same as myself about 10 years ago). So, consider giving that book a look-over, too. A lot of "Christians" do not understand or like Ecclesiastes, but I related (and relate) very well to it, and it speaks volumes of truth to me.
...and lastly, be wary of what many "Christians" say. Consider, instead, what the Bible says. Hold them to it, and in so doing, teach them what God teaches you, as you read and study the Bible.
Grace and peace in Christ be with you.

YES Christ is the answer. I have been where you are. When I was a child I went to church and was born again asking Jesus to save me and come into my heart, help me to chose good and lead others to him. Then as I got older I thought I could do it on my own. And boy did I make a mess. I was at a place where I was not even sure who I was anymore. I had a good job, nice home, family and good friends, but nothing seemed to please me. I felt out of place. It was like the movie "The Lion King". My father was the king but I let things and lies get between me and the truth. It took a hard knock on the head to wake me up too. Now I am happy and pleased with my life. God is my father and Jesus is my Savior. Read Exodus 15:2,John 3:14-17, John5:24,Romans 10:9-10. I hope this helps. Also find a good church where you can go and grow in Gods word. Get involved and help even in the little things of the church will feel you with pride. God Bless.

Christ is always the answer. From some of the answers you have here, I dare say those people need to look at things a little closer. Their lives are more empty than yours. You have allowed for the possibility that Christ may be the answer. They do not even believe in Him. I can't PROVE He is the answer or that he is actually real anymore than those non-believers can prove that he is not the answer or that he is not real.I suggest you give it a try and see for yourself. Make it a point ot help the less fortunate and to control the seven deadly sins in your self. It's your choice. NOTHING VENTURED, NOTHING GAINED.

There was an man in the days Christ walked among us. A devote man of the Jews who wanted to know the same thing you are asking. How do I become a true child of God. Jesus was very clear. He told him that being born into the world isn't enough. that He had to be reborn of God. What in the first thing a baby does when it's born? Draws in the breath of life, right. The first thing a child of God does in draw in the Spirit of God. Allow God to recreate you, trust Him that He will. Believe that He when He told us that who ever calls on Him in prayer will be saved.. Call on Him, tell Him of you pains, your feeling of being lost, your worthlessness feeling. Ask Him to take them away and give you life instead of fear. Then trust His that He will do it. That He will keep all the promises He made to us. Then do me a huge favor come back and tell me what He did for you.... Jim

Yes, Christ is the answer. He always is.
The first thing you need to do is PRAY. No matter how far you have strayed, God will always listen to you. It sounds like you were raised in a Christian home, but you never necessarily accepted Jesus as your savior. If that is the case, you need to put your trust in Him right now. He is the only one who can turn your life around. Now, go to your local church and talk to the pastor. He will be able to help you better than anybody on here. Make sure to ask for a Bible if he doesn't offer you one.
I'm praying for you.

This is a difficult question to answer. I am an Atheist, but I won't try to convince you not to pursue Christianity. This is simply because I don't know enough about you. Just because religion doesn't work for me, doesn't mean it won't fill in the gaps in your life.
I would suggest talking to a counsellor, or someone impartial that you can trust, who will listen to what you have to say without judging you, or trying to force their particular beliefs on you.
I hope you find what you are looking for.

Yes, He is indeed! The void that you have is the result of sin. As long as the sin remains you will never be fulfilled. Romans 6:23 says "For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ." You must ask yourself do I believe this? If you answers yes, this is called faith. In order to know you must believe first that Jesus died for your sins and then receive his free gift of forgiveness. We all deserve death for our sins but because of Christ's great love for you He offers himself to you by taking your place, paid the penalty for your sin. If you will truly believe in Christ and receive His free gift of forgiveness you will see that he is the answer. You will never know by looking from the outside you must enter into His presence. Rev. 3:20 says "Here I am I stand at the door and knock if anyone hears my voice and opens the door I will come in and eat with him and he with me." If you by faith open up to Him and surrender, give your life to Him you will see He is your answer.

There is nothing wrong with researching religions or having faith. If you are truly wanting to do something about it, I recommend you ask freinds or family where they go to church and if you can go with them. Try a few different places out first. Ask a priest, pastor, or any other religious person what faith means to them. Why do they dedicate their lives to God? Sometimes having faith can really be an asset in your life and I personally find it well worth it. However, don't be influenced to do something you don't want to do.

Get in God honey, I don't mean religion, I mean God. Get a good bible, maybe like the NIV version, or a nice version that you can read and get understanding. Get in prayer, ask God to receive you, tell Him to come into your heart. Then don't stop there, pray to Him and start putting God in your day. Take 15 minutes out of the day to give Him some time. Wake up a little earlier and pray or sing a song to Him. God want us to love on Him, you know He loves on us. So that's where you start. Tell God, God I want to be in love with you, I want you to show up in all my life so can you do that. Give me the desire to read your Word and the desire to get into your prescence. It starts with a willing heart and He'll take you from there and raise you up in Him. Falling in love with Jesus was the best thing I've ever done.

He is searching for you. Realize that like all of us, you are a sinner, and as such you fall short of the glory of God. The payment for this sin is death, but God has promised us eternal life instead through Jesus Christ. God knows all of your sins, and in spite of them, He sent His Son to die in your place in order to bring you salvation. He promises that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. If you will accept Christ, God will accept you, because He promised, "Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved". If you really are serious about following Christ, pray this prayer to the Father:
Dear God; I know I have sinned by breaking Your laws, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus died for my sins. I want to be born again and receive new life in Him. I will follow Jesus as my Lord and obey Him in all that I do. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen
I'll be praying for you to find Him and for Him to direct you to a Christ-centered church to help you in your walk.
