When I got this original message on irs.gov - I came here and read up on what was going on and realized mine had fallen into this category of "delays due to......whatever..." But I don't see any refrence numbers or codes with the text on my message - and I called the irs and they seem to have a clue - ALL the guy I spolke with say he knew was "there are delays this year - you'll just have to wait"

here is the messege:
"We have received your tax return and it is being processed. Your expected refund date has been changed due to processing delays. You should receive your refund by February 27, 2007. Please wait until that date to contact us again because we cannot take any action until then. Thank you for your patience."

Is this the typical message everyone is getting? And since they don't deposit on Tuesdays - which is what day the 27th falls on - I wonder when I'll get my refund????

I got the exact same response, no reference code like many of the others were reporting. I'm hoping that by Wednesday it updates and I get it this Friday the 23rd, but I'm not holding my breath.

A co-worker, filing after I did with virtually the same income, same deductions, even had EIC as well has already gotten their income tax return.

If it is saying Feb 27th, they should change it to Feb 23 (which is a Friday) on Wednesday the 21st so be sure and check your status then. My refund said Feb 20, which is a Tuesday as well, and with the same message you received, and then it changed to Feb 16 a day ago on the IRS website. They always give you a projected date far off and then change it as the time gets closer to your direct deposit date.

Here's an efile chart from the IRS which will show you when to expect your direct deposit depending on what day you filed~~
http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p2043.pdf

As you can see, all their deposits are on Fridays only, so I'm sure you will probably receive yours by next Friday if all goes well and there are no errors or reasons for additional time to review it.

Crazy.. Crazy...Crazy!! We filed on 1/12 and was denied RAL on the 16th. We were then told by the IRS we should expect a deposit on 1/30, Nope!!! What confuses me is some of you are getting your IRS update & finding out your deposit date has changed, mine has not. Today when I checked the IRS website my deposit date still showes 1/30. I don't know if that's a good thing or bad. According to the H&R block update the IRS is experiencing delays and for those expecting a deposit on 1/30 will now get the deposit on 2/2 or 2/3. Oh, this whole thing with the IRS only doing deposits on Fridays is not true. The IRS dose the deposits in batches at anytime. Banks are telling this to people because in the day to day business world the ACH are done on fridays or the company's payday. This process has nothing to do with the IRS. Yes, I am an Accountant. However, when it comes to the IRS nothing makes sence. like my mom says," Don't count your chicken before they hatch"...Whatever!!

Yes, The delay is due to new Congressional changes in the tax code. Expect another delay possibly as well.
