OK I will ad a little more info. When i was between the ages of 14-16 I was in this group home that was funded by the Church Of Christ. The church we went to repeatedly tried to get me to change who I was and what I believed (i am not atheist by the way) and told me if I didn't that I was going to hell. After I left it left a bad taste in my mouth for religion. I just want to know if I should be more open minded to churches and not think all are bad because of one experience I had

Of course. The Episcopal Church, Unitarian Universalists, Quakers, Unity, the United Church of Christ (mind you, that's a different denomination than the Southern U.S. Church of Christ), and many other churches are famous for being non-discriminatory in their practices. I am a Catholic, and my own church is heavily ethnically and racially mixed, with no discrimination in that regard (but women aren't permitted to be priests, so that might be viewed as discrimination in its own right).

There are a lot of people that find the Church of Christ to be almost cultic in it's view of baptism. However don't ask a Christian church to be open it their view on who Christ is, what He did for mankind, or how we should respond to the gift that He offers. Since this gift of God is offered to all I do see it as discrimination. At a Christian church you would be accepted and would be offered to join the family of God.. If you didn't want a relationship like that with God, I would ask, Why would you want to spend you time in church? Jim

Try the Episcopal church or the Unitarian Universalists. They tend to be more open to diversity. And there's the Unity School of Christianity, which is usually just called "Unity"...the Unity people are very accepting of others.

first, you have to define what discriminate means. my church takes anyone in. but if you want to be a part of it. you have to be what the church is about. And who started the church? God did. So God makes the rules not man. So no one can be a part of the church if they are not willing to change.

Jehovah's Witness do not discriminate. We only apply the Bible's principals. There are quite a few lists of standards in the bible that we adhere to. Some of the lists may offend people, but we do not make them up. They are written in the same bible that everyone uses. We are accepting of everyone wanting to live by those standards.

we as Jehovah Witnesses welcome everyone. come to a meeting at a Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses. see what we are all about. we love our neighbor as we want to be treated. we are in 236 lands and all worship the one true God Jehovah and his son Jesus Christ. people say we are a cult and brainwashed. we are a religion. a cult worships man. see our website and see what we are all about. www.watchtower.org

I am an Episcopalian. You will be welcomed at an Episcopal church regardless of your race, age, sexual orientation, gender, political viewpoints, or any other potentially discriminatory factor.
