Check out DISCOVER. They offer more than 2% on merchants that are in their partners plan.

I don't know of any that give 2% back on ALL purchases when there is no annual fee. I have the American Express 1,2,3 card that you get from Costco free. It gives 3% back on restaurants, 2% back on travel, and 1% on everything else. Combine that with the Costco Executive Membership and I receive 3% off everything at Costco.

Be sure to read the fine print on other cards. They may offer 2% but only on purchases not paid in full each month. Some are only on gasoline.

cash back credit cards is that some of them come with incentives. Some of these could be pretty good so you may want to start by looking at them. A couple of them will give you as many as 10,000 points which will go toward whatever the focus is of that credit card (air miles, hotels, etc.). If one of these will best suit your needs, then you would want to look at that particular card a little further.

The next thing you want to consider is the interest rate. This can vary anywhere from about 7.99% up to 18.24%. Normally, this interest rate does not go into effect until the introductory period runs out - but it will eventually. So, if you allow balances to remain on your credit card, you will want to choose one with as low an interest rate as you can.

The best "Cash Back" card I've seen so far is Emigrant Direct master card. It pays 1.4% cash back, but only if you have a saving account with EmigrantDirect.com and maintain average balance in the saving account of $10,000. They pay the cash back in the form of deposit to my saving account every 6 months. I found it to be the best option for me. This is straight 1.4% no "up to" crap, no tiers etc. The only catch is that they want you to maintain an average balance of 10K in that savings account, which is no problem for me. The saving account by the way pays 5.05% yield, so you're not losing on interest either.
