it starts off fine for about 2 minutes and then the whole computer crashes.if i use the web cam without the mic,its fine.what am i doing wrong?

If the problem continues after having tried the tips in the answers above, and/or if shutting down all the other running programs helps, then I would strongly recommend that you purchase some additional RAM. Check how much RAM your computer has, and if it is 256 or less, you need to at least double it. I would not run a computer, esp. using a webcam with less than 512mb of ram, and 1gb would be much better.

Go to the manufacturer of the web cams web site and download the latest software for it. Do the same for your sound card.
ALSO, while doing your web cam broadcast, make sure you close programs you aren't using. And especially attention to what is running in your system tray down by your clock. Just right click on those and go to Close/Exit, generally. However, don't close your antivirus and important applications.

hey i cant help you out but i have the same problem :S its strange i go on cam and then 2 or 3 min later my computer just freezes :S i use a Creative Web Cam and i use the disk i got with it so.. hopy fully sombody will answer your problem or im gonna have to ask my self see what ppl say to help me lol aslo it only does it while im on msn :S when im just takin random pics its fine
