Everyhting he wrote in his pre-war speech has come to pass. Read all of the speech at the following site.
http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Barack_Obama%27s_Iraq_Speech
"Saddam poses no imminent and direct threat to the United States, or to his neighbors, that the Iraqi economy is in shambles, that the Iraqi military a fraction of its former strength, and that in concert with the international community he can be contained until, in the way of all petty dictators, he falls away into the dustbin of history.
I know that even a successful war against Iraq will require a US occupation of undetermined length, at undetermined cost, with undetermined consequences.I know that an invasion of Iraq without a clear rationale and without strong international support will only fan the flames of the middle east, and encourage the worst, rather than best, impulses of the Arab world, and strengthen the recruitment arm of Al Queda. I am not opposed to all wars. I’m opposed to dumb wars."-Obama

My honest take on it is that he wasn't really in power at the time....so he wasn't afraid of public opinion polls.

I said the exact same thing he said. It didn't ttake a genius to figure that out...just basic understanding of the region.

My father said the exact same thing.

I had friends who said the exact same thing.

There were state dept. and CIA analysts who said the exact same thing.

The media, and politcians, were coewardly. Bush was labeling them traitors, and the polls were something 78% supported it. They were afraid of those numbers....so they backed down.

I think a LOT of people knew...they were just too afraid to say it.

Obama didn't have as much to risk at the time.

Of course he opposes the war in Iraq, look at his arabic name, that should tell you alot about him.

Also, look at Hillary Clinton, she continues to bash Bush but then she continues to speak against something and then turns right around and speak in favor of the same thing that she has spoken out against before.

Then there is John Edwards who hires two degenerate christian haters who lashes out against christians while at the same time supporting John Edwards in his presidential campaign, christians are voters too but then John Edwards wouldn't do anything about the two women until his office was overrunned with complaints about the two women making obscene and offensive remarks about christianity

liberals & liberal sympathizers will always take up for a dictator like Saddam Hussien and that should not be tolerated and considered to be un-American.

I really hope & pray that a democrat does not win the presidential election and if it happens then I hope & pray that there will be enough people in the House & Senate that will not allow that democrat to proceed with his or her immoral agenda that will no doubt hurt this country.

Obama is very smart. I also believe he is very wrong concerning the war. But at least he's been entirely consistent in his opposition to it.

But the real question is, without any benefit of hindsight, if Obama was President Obama on Sept. 11, 2001, what would he have done different?

Obama is just smart but he combines that with courage. There are any number of "good" Christians who theoretically oppose senseless war (and who invented the term "just war") but when it comes down to opposing a war which will kill tens of thousands of innocent people and condemn the rest to a life of danger and misery they do not have the courage to speak up.

i does no longer call him a visionary. He grew to become into amazing. it is greater a question of having the balls to return out and say what he concept at a time whilst speaking against the president could be considered "unpatriotic." It in order that occurs that he grew to become into amazing. he's admitted himself that he would o.k. have been incorrect, and issues would be lots diverse. he's likewise clever. e book clever and highway clever. he's have been given existence journey residing in rural aspects, city aspects, bigger classification and unfavorable neighborhoods, residing distant places, you call it.

I'm glad to see Obama has the guts to say tough things now that he's actually campaigning, too (cf his comments about the Australian troop presence -- too ******* right: put in 20,000 troops or shut the hell up). I like him a lot.

We had clear rationale...Saddam was a threat to the whole world and he was harboring terrorists.
President Bush made it clear that this would be a long, tough war.

Typical democratic response......

I pray that this man does not win the presidency....
