it's a demonic ritual that dogs have done for many decades to send a message to the owner that if he doesn't feed them or keep water in the bowls; what the dogs do to the doll is what they will do to the human.

My dogs do the same thing with their toys. I think it is because when they are killing an animal the first thing that they go for is the head. So on the toy they do the same.

my old dog used to do that too. first thing she always ripped out. and if the nose was hard plastic, that went too. then all the stuffing would get pulled out and put to the side and she would play with flat animals. weird. i know. people used to think our dog was nuts cause there would be all these flat "stuffed" animals with no faces

My Dachshund disembowels stuffed toys! He can't be left unattended with them at all or there's stuffing everywhere. For him, it's the prey drive that brings on this behavior.

I don't know, but mine always go for the eyes and nose. They love to pull the stuffing out!

It's part of their instincts from their ancestors. They blind their prey so they can't run away or anticipate an attack.
