Don't listen to that first comment! Loyal B doesn't know what he's talking about!
You can install a newer version of Windows right over Win ME. As a matter of fact the sooner you do it the better, you will reap NO effects of your old operating system once you put the new one on. When you are in windows setup, it will automatically upgrade everything from you system files, to your registry. So all of the bugs and problems that Win ME had will be gone.
www.microsoft.com should have a copy of Vista or XP. Since your computer is so old that you had ME on it, you may want to stick with XP or if it's slower than 800 Mhz (processor speed) than you might want to just put Windows 2000 on it with service pack 4.

At a computer software store. Any other source and it will only work 30 days before it is registered. You must have your own registered version. Even if you could download it from the internet, you should have your own copy, We all know how stable windows is, LOL

You dont. If you want to upgrade Windows, dont put another Windows on there, because you will have similar problems with the new Windows that you had with the old. For a true upgrade, upgrade to kubuntu, a Linux based product, available at www.kubuntu.org

Well if it is for free you can forget about it. No free stuff except advice and bad jokes. Now if your computer is not dinosaur, that is, is not too, too, old, then google "oem software" and you can buy a cheap copy. US Supreme Court said it is legal to buy even the software that says "For bundles only." Bill Gates, eat your heart out.
