I have eaten Peter Pan peanut butter in the past few weeks with the code they are now warning people about - "2111" and I have not been sick from it.. so I myself am wondering if it had salmonella in it.. I should have gotten sick from it, right? as I am looking up info on it. but I won't eat anymore of it.

If you've been infected with salmonella, it usually takes 6-12 hours before you develop symptoms. So, if you ate it 3 days ago and you're still not sick, you're OK.

The safe thing to do would be to send in the lid, and get your $1.49 back.

What is salmonellosis?

Salmonellosis is an infection with a bacteria called Salmonella. Most persons infected with Salmonella develop diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps 12 to 72 hours after infection. The illness usually lasts 4 to 7 days, and most persons recover without treatment. However, in some persons the diarrhea may be so severe that the patient needs to be hospitalized. In these patients, the Salmonella infection may spread from the intestines to the blood stream, and then to other body sites and can cause death unless the person is treated promptly with antibiotics. The elderly, infants, and those with impaired immune systems are more likely to have a severe illness.

Your fine, you would of gotten sick by now.

Well I sure hope not because I had some of it too...but I'm not sick either so it doesn't seem to be a big threat. However I myself plan to see a doctor if I see any signs of sickness in myself within the coming weeks.

If you don't have symptoms, and are not sick, don't worry. (and don't bother your doc). ((But don't eat any more.)) People have different susceptibility to infective organisms. Also, the salmonella are not always evenly distributed- not every jar in the 2111 lot will have it.

This is just great. I ate so much of it today and I am pregnant with my first child. I am so scared that I will get sick from it. If they have known that this was bad since August 2006 why does it just now show on TV. I am so upset...

If it had salmonella in it you would have already been sick. Don't worry about it. I would just not eat anymore just in case. Return it for a refund.

If I were you, I would call my doctor and explain the situation to them. Most likely they will have you come in and either check you out to make sure that you don't have it, or start you on a course of antibiotics just to make sure. It'd be smart to get it checked out rather than just sit around and wonder. I hope that you are okay. Let us know. Good luck!

We went almost all the way through a jar before hearing the news today. I think if you were going to get sick you already would have.

go to your doctor or hospital so they can check if it is bad and the doctor might give treatments.
