How much does it cost to hire an architect?

I heard it's a percentage of the total cost of the work--how many percent?

Typically Architects are very expensive. Depending on the scope of your project. I am a designer with a Civil Eng. Firm / Construction services and I work with Architects all the time. It really depends on the scope of your project. Best you can do is call a few Architects or a few drafting firms and get some quotes. My firms website is below

It depends on what you want him to do. If you have a good idea of what you want, you may not need the greatest level of detail. This also depends on your relationship with the builder. At the very least, you want to make sure the plans are to code and that there are no hidden glitches. Another answer mentioned costs, but it is worth thinking of the cost of having to redo something, because the plan wasn't thought through. I do home remodels, sometimes with and sometimes without an architect.

u need to design the interior of your house if u r not mistaken then u need to hire and interior designer.. if yes u really need an architect. then it depends on his experience & qualifications though. but nevertheless be prepared for anything between 12-15 % of your total cost of contruction to be paid to him

it's based partially on the size of the job. the smaller the job the more "affordable" the architect. Also a factor is reputation.

depends on the artist but usually like 15 percent...about the same as a real estate agent....Some will charge a flat rate though for certain size jobs.
