So...I got to thinking...Who put it there and for what purpose. I called the CIA in Langley and the National Security Agency...neither one admitted to placing a listening device in my Great Dane's ear. Now I'm concerned that all my conversations and phone calls are being monitored by some freaky secret agency. Anybody else find a chip in their pet's ear???

No, but I would put tin foil on your head so the government cannot do satellite brain scans on you.

It's an implanted ID chip. Where did you get your dog from? Who ever had him prior to you must have had it implanted to keep from losing him, did it work? Take him to the vet so they can scan it and see who he is suppose to belong to if not you.

And yes, most animal shelters have the scanning device or plan to get it in the near future to prevent the unnecessary euthanasia of animals that are just lost. I would have your vet check out the id on yours and change it so your pet will be returned to you and not someone else in case he gets lost. It newer technology, in the news a lot lately. They can also do a tatoo id.

I'd like to assume it's a microchip for locating the owner, but, They but those near the ribcage, because I have watched the shelter we got my second of three dogs from inject the chip into my dogs, near the ribcage. If this is serious, I suggest you ask a vet what it could be and if they can remove it if it is something bad or not anything they placed on the dog.

Sorry but that's all I can help you with.

Did you adopt him? because most shelters now put chips in dogs and cats ears so that if they get lost and someone finds them, they can scan the chip at a vet or shelter and find out where the dog or cat came from. Lots of places do this now.

If this is a seriuos question, the breeder may of had it implanted there as a way of indentifing the dog. Many breeders like the micro-chip and use thier info so if the pup ever gets put in a shelter due to neglect, they get that pup back.

none of my dogs have them..
Maybe you vet. would be able to remove it?
Some pet shelters or pet stores put those on their animals as a sign for their property especially on purebreeds, maybe that's what it is. Sorry this is just a few guesses...
If you think you're in 'trouble' with that chip on your dogs ear you should go to get it professionally looked at.

those are chips to help you get your dog back if he gets lost or stolen. The vet should have your address listed as the dogs owner and then they scan the chip and it tells them who the dog belongs to.

I think I would be a little paranoid over that one. I never heard of that so I would ask the vet what it is. I would see if it can be removed. On an unusual thought, it could be aliens if you believe in that sort of thing.

Did you call Scotland Yards, KGB, or maybe even the ATF. There has been rumors of dogs running drugs across the border (BORDER COLLIES)? Just a guess!!!!!
