I want to start paying tithes, now I haven't done it at all and the envelops to tithes start on January. Should I start paying from now on or should I pay from january until now? I mean i am not rich and I am on a tight budget but I just would like an opinion, I mean I don't want to cheat God or anything.
Thanks

Give what you can, but make sure you do it because it is something that you want to do. I do not believe God is interested in guilt offerings. He knows your situation and He cares more about the heart of a person than their material things. Tithing is more than just money. Giving things away, giving your time, there are lots of different oppinions about what tithe is. Pray about it and let God speak to you.

God does not need money. You, on the other hand, have an obligation and a responsibility to not only keep your bills paid up and honor all financial responsibilities to other people, but to put something aside for your later years, so that you do not become a burdon o n others, as you certainly can, and will be, when you start getting sick and in need of the services of people who have to be paid to render those services.
Paying your way honorably and legitimately in this world is what "God" would want you to do, and the only "financial dealings" that "God" has any interest in. I have known of quite a few people who have readily accepted the kindness of others in financial help because they were having problems meeting their personal needs. Then it was learnt they were turning right around and using that money to tithe to their church. I don't know what you call that, but I call it outrageous fraud, and taking money under false pretences. If that behaviour isn't "cheating god" I don't know what is.

Start now. Tithes is not a bill that if you don't pay, you are behind and start accruing interest and risk getting God's grace turned off. God asks for the tithe to help maintain the church and it's functions. If you can pay over and above do it and then trust God that as the months ahead approach you will put Him first in your budget and He will bless you. Also remember 2 things, you do not PAY tithes, again it is not a bill, and God love a cheerful giver so do it with a cheerful spirit not grudgedly.

Only God Knows what is in your heart, and God knows what you can afford. I THREW the Christianaty "TITHE 10%" RULE away long time ago! I was tired of Churches using tithe to force people to give. It's shameful for the human race.

God would rather you tithe, with a joyful heart only $1, rather than you tithing 10% of your income with a resentful regretting heart.

Be happy and joyful to give what you can, before you pay any financial obligations or spend any money everytime you get paid...and God will pour his richest blessings upon you. It also more than just tithing..it's living Gods word, and witnessing to others that is your tithe too.

Stop listening to the FLESH and do whats in your heart, what God wants you to do.

Start paying now and God will bless you for it. For the person who asked why the all powerful God needs the money, well first the money goes to the church and should be used on those various expenses or missionary works and things like that and second, it is to show that you are not greedy and can part with you money. The reason why I think you should start now is because if you would go back to January, then why not go back 3 years? It is now that you have felt led to do it and it is only now that you should pay.

The Bible says 1/10th of all earnings, "the first fruits", Put your $ where your heart is. Remember Gods promise. He gave his best for us. Start here, start now. I've tithed for 6 years now and have seen the Lords increase. And what I give goes on round the world, so that others may hear of his great deeds. Tithing should be a joyful thing not dreaded.

start now, God doesn't need your money, He wants your heart. The heart that is open enough to deny ourselves of a new dress, or shoes, or whatever it is you may need right now, and the tithe money can get. So start it now and continue, if you didn't have the heart to do it in Jan. well you goin gbackwards wouldn't matter. Start now and let God do the increasing in your life. Be blessed!

paying tithes in modern times is not biblical... you do not have to pay.... you can pay offerings as you feel led but not tithes...

tithes were for the levitical priesthood. there wre about 45,000 levites that shared the 10%....the 10% was never meant for one pastor to have

the apostles did not get a salary.. they all worked for a living, and/or off free will offerings. your pastor needs to do the same thing

You pay tithes in action outside of an organization.
Or you pay tithes to feed mouths that preach.
Which do you prefer?

Start paying from today. Then just have faith that God will provide. I started paying tithe and am in the same situation that you are. Very little money to live on, but never missed the money. God provides.

By the way "reverend" our God does not need money. We thithe so that our church can help those less fortunate than us.
