Snakes are just animals... they aren't good or evil, they just do what they can to survive. They aren't proof of evolution, nor proof against evolution, at least not more than any other creature.
Snakes are pretty dangerous to people, though, if they are poisonous.

Snakes are worshipped in some parts of India, probably to satiate them so they don't go chasing down and killing everyone. So I would say no to them being evil in general.
It's kind of funny to think of the snake being considered evil, because they are proof of evolution. For that statement, I would say yup. :p

Satan did not start as a snake. He was a serpent and then after he lied to Eve he was cursed and made to crawl on his belly for the rest of his life.
