I ran out of oatmeal when I was making oatmeal cookies, what can I use as a substitute?

Grapenuts or bran cereal. Not cornflakes, they are too sweet.

White Flour can be substituted for whole wheat flour, or half flour/ half nut flour. You can use half butter, half oil, but regular safflower or vegetable oil would be better than olive oil, which has a destinct taste and would not be good in cookies.

I'd put in extra flour, just enough to make the dough doughy.

You might try adding more nuts and crushed cornflakes or rice krispies.
