Jenny - My grandmother was a Pentacostal so I spent a lot of my early years attending church with her. Pentacostals do believe a bit different from SOME other churches, but they are good churches with good people and certainly not of the devil. I just get so upset when people say things like that. There are just too many people who believe their way is the only way. Hugs to you hun and do not listen to what uninformed and uneducated people spout off about.

I say look at the fruit of being a pentacostal, meaning what comes from worshipping God in that manner. Do you feel you are becoming a better person, more whole and happy? Do you think God likes it when we dance, or would prefer us to sit very still and act "holy"?

They speak of God in your church, right? Well Jesus says in the Bible that a household divided against itself can not prosper. If you say you're worshipping God in the service, but in reality worshipping the devil, then pentacostal churches will fall.

Last time I looked, many of those churches are thriving and have been for hundreds of years. Their outreach to their communities and the poor is a lot of the times a huge part of the church. You make the decision for yourself!

no I do not. I come from a Luthern background where the services are kinda dry and boring. People probably dont understand your particular form of worship and have a hard time dealing with it. I have never seen someone talking in tongue so I can understand how others might be skeptical but I agree that your religion is biblically correct and has nothing to do with the devil.

No, I do not. I'm a Baptist myself, so I'm not into the whole jump up and down, clap your hands, speak in tongues thing. But if you really feel led by the Lord to do that, then I have absolutely nothing against it. When it gets really charismatic, then I start to feel uncomfortable, but that could be just me. I've heard that some stuff gets really out of control, but I'm not really sure. Just make sure that your heart is right with God and that you're not doing anything just for show.

The "gifts" practiced in "Pentecostal" churches were described as temporary in scripture. They existed to aid in the early spread of the Gospel and to confirm the message which was taught. Scripture ONLY speaks of them being spread to new Christians AT THE HANDS OF THE APOSTLES.

1Corinthians 13:8 Love never fails. But prophecy will pass away. Speaking in languages that had not been known before will end. And knowledge will pass away. :9 What we know now is not complete. What we prophesy now is not complete. 10 But when what is complete comes, the things that are not complete will pass away.

Ac 8:14 The apostles in Jerusalem heard that people in Samaria had accepted God’s word. So they sent Peter and John to them. 15 When they arrived there, they prayed that the believers would receive the Holy Spirit. 16 The Holy Spirit had not yet come on any of them. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17 Then Peter and John placed their hands on them. And they received the Holy Spirit.
18 Simon watched as the apostles placed their hands on them. He saw that the Spirit was given to them. So he offered money to Peter and John. 19 He said, “Give me this power too. Then everyone I place my hands on will receive the Holy Spirit.”
20 Peter answered, “May your money be destroyed with you! Do you think you can buy God’s gift with money? 21 You have no part or share in this holy work. Your heart is not right with God. 22 Turn away from this evil sin of yours. Pray to the Lord. Perhaps he will forgive you for having such a thought in your heart. 23 I see that you are very bitter. You are a prisoner of sin.”
24 Then Simon answered, “Pray to the Lord for me. Pray that nothing you have said will happen to me.”
25 Peter and John gave witness and preached the Lord’s word. Then they returned to Jerusalem. On the way they preached the good news in many villages in Samaria.

"Tongues" refers to LANGUAGES, NOT the gibberish common in Pentecostal churches today. It was instructed in 1 Corinthians that this be used in the assembly ONLY when it was translated so everyone could understand.

1 Corinthians 14:21 In the Law it is written, “Through people who speak unfamiliar languages and through the lips of strangers I will speak to these people. But even then they will not listen to me.” (Isaiah 28:11, 12) That is what the Lord says. 22 So speaking in other languages is a sign for those who don’t believe. It is not a sign for those who do believe. But prophecy is for believers. It is not for those who don’t believe.
23 Suppose the whole church comes together and everyone speaks in other languages. And suppose visitors or unbelievers come in. Won’t they say you are out of your minds? 24 But suppose unbelievers or visitors come in while everyone is prophesying. Then they will be shown by all who speak that they are sinners. They will be judged by all. 25 The secrets of their hearts will be brought out into the open. They will fall down and worship God. They will exclaim, “God is really here among you!”

All Religion is of the "Devil" (Being man's own inhumanity to man.) Through this "devil", we fail to realize or take responsability for the fact that we are made in God's image. and no other religion upholds it better than the sects of Christianity.

The Christian Religion was created as a political maneuver by the Jews at the time after Christs crucificition, to keep those who decided to worship Jesus just close enough, just friendly enough and a part of a community, but not as a part of them:
Reachable, taxable, tolerated and understood.

Christianity is nothing more than a sect of Judaism. Christianity was created by the Jews of the time after Christ was crucified to keep the peace and keep the taxation. Christianity is therefore, a confused and contradictory sect of Judaism.

If your God was a Jew... Why not be what your God is even if you were not born to the Jewish faith??? Jesus came to unite the people and end the separation that made some men less than others by birth. He came to fulfill the covenant and make a way for all to come to God through him. Jew or Gentile alike because before jesus....The only way to atone for sin was to follow the rites and practices of the Jew.

The Muslim religions were created by an illiterate, half crazy child and were created through him, as a means to separate themselves from both the hypocrisy and accusation of the Jews and the condemnation and murderous intent of the Christians in the name of Jerusalem... and in praise of a God that they not only took their part in crucifying, But praised at the very same time and afterward.

The only people who have it right. are the Jews for Jesus. Hate to tell ya!

Religion is of the Devil period. It negates everything that jesus came to do and that... was the plan! Read revelations... It's not exactly kept a secret to those who follow the Bible... It's just not for the ignorant to comprehend.

Makes sence, no? The "devil" has had his fill of souls and bloody wars all in the name of God. He has quite the collection... come to him as a direct result of the stupidity and greed of men through the error of religion. It is a classic way to tear down the one true God, in the name of the many Gods they tear down for...

Classic reverse psychology in action! Man pitted against man to completely negate the totality of what Christ came to do. And the atheists that were made as a result... too damn smart for their own goods, are the completion of the plan. The icing on the proverbial cake so to speak.

no i dont believe in the devil.

so do you drink red devil lye and handle snakes? i went to a pentacostal church once where they did those things.

Edit: well as long as you aren't doing these crazy things I dont see whats wrong with praising the Lord in the way that feels right to you. Religion isn't my thing...but doesn't the bible say to make a joyful noise unto the Lord?

in accordance to the bible, the devil IS a fallen angel. even as he replaced into an angel, his call replaced into Lucifer, yet so that you'll recognize who he's now, he's called devil. the devil replaced into God's choir instructor decrease back in heaven. yet quickly he grew jealous and wanted to be as sensible as God is. yet then he were given kicked out. he makes use of many varieties, noticeably in undesirable wants to scare us. we ought to continuously no longer worry him, yet defeat him in each and every conflict we've with him. the devil is an evil spirit that sometime will attain his destiny and be thrown into the Lake of fireplace for all of eternity.

look in 1 Corinthians:18 I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you. 19But in the church I would rather speak five intelligible words to instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue.
