There's this guy, who I have really only talked to a handful of times. We were IMing, and he hinted he wanted to go to turnabout with me. So I asked him. He said yes.
Now, I find out that he's playing me. He couldn't remember my name. He had wanted my best friend to ask him, but when she didn't he went to me. He wanted to ask another girl to dinner on V day, but when she couldn't, he went to me. Basically, I am second choice.
My best friend said that she is going to tell him today that I don't want to go with him, because I had to leave school early.
Am I doing the right thing?

Forget about the fact that he wanted to go out with your girlfriends for a moment...why would you want to go out with a guy that didn't remember your name AFTER you asked him out?
