I'm know I'm just a teenager but my aunt's told me that it's only bad to pull it for 2 reasons: A) It's not loose enough and B) The child really doesn't want you too because it hurts. If the other tooth is growing I really think you should take your son to a dentist and talk to the dentist since I'm no expert. Also I pullled my younger cousins' teeth quite a few time and they've all been just fine. They all grew back nicely except one time. It grew in straight but it took a little longer than it should've. She didn't start growing it back for about 2 weeks.

If you are seeing the new tooth, it is time to take him to the dentist and insist they take it out. The reason I say that is because our little boy had this problem, and his new tooth was in and the baby tooth was still hanging in there not budging. We took him to the dentist, and we were told to go home and work on wiggling it to make it come out. All it did was cause his gum to become bruised and bleed. We ended up going back, and the dentist did have to in fact pull it.

Some kids are scared to pull their teeth. Afraid it will hurt, etc. Explain the process and that it doesn't hurt if the tooth is ready to come out. Tell him why we loose our teeth and that he will get another one soon. Keep encouraging him to "wiggle" it so that it will get looser on it's own, and it may even fall out without having to be pulled. Try to keep him calm about it. Talking about how he needs to pull it or it will come out in his food or his sleep are not good things. Especially if he's scared for some reason that could make matters much worse.

If it was pretty loose, I'd try and pull it myself. Put some ice on the tooth and gum and get it pretty numb and then gently tug on it with a dry washcloth, moving it gently back and forth until it comes free. If it doesn't easily come free, then I'd go to the dentist. Have plenty of ice water to swoosh with when it comes out because there will be some blood. - Hope that helps.

The new tooth pushes the old one out but in some children it requires assistance. Best you have the dentist tell you what to do. Call and ask, he might give good suggestions over the phone without having to go to his office.

If I get your question meaning this is an adult tooth coming in behind a baby tooth? You can pull it if it is loose. My son always pulls them out if they are just a little loose. It might bleed more than just leaving it alone, but if it is bothering him I'd pull it.

If the tooth is getting looser by the day you could leave it come out on its own. However if it is getting looser all the time it will not make any differrence to the new tooth as it is already comming out. I think the problems come in when ppl pull teeth befor they are loosenning....Lets

Take him to the dentist asap. Occasionally the baby tooth does not get pushed out and it may cause the new tooth to grow crooked. My daughter's front baby tooth did not fall out and her new one was already growing in. The dentist extracted it - it was very quick and painless and not that expensive.
