A Yahoo story broke today stating that Peter Pan peanut butter has recalled some product after salmonella sickened 288 people in 39 states since August, was linked to tainted peanut butter produced by ConAgra "Peter Pan" at a plant in Sylvester, Ga.

I have an unopened jar of the recalled product in my cabinet that I purchased last week. On the lid the number starts in "21111".

They say you can send it to the manufacturer for a refund but the mailing charge will make it non-economical. Can't I just return it to the place of purchase for a refund? I have never returned a food product before.

I'm sure you can return it to the store you bought it from. Make sure you tell them why you're returning it so they don't put it back on the shelf.

Or, you can just chuck it. It's a jar of peanut butter.

Try asking at the store, but if they can't help you, just throw it away. It's only a few dollars, why sweat over petty change?

call the grocery store you shopped at and ask them, if they dont know ask to speak to the manager, if they still don't know just call the customer service number on the jar.
