I was recently diagnosed with an odd infection whose origins niether I or the doctors have been able to trace.

I DO HAVE THAT PEANUT BUTTER WITH THE CODE 2111 ON IT AND I DID EAT IT BEFORE I BECAME SICK.

This disease may be CHRONIC...I might have to deal with this crap for the rest of my life and I am so angry and depressed by it, and to know that some irresponsible company released this junk on me is just too much.

So if anyone is bringing about a class action lawsuit that I can join or that maybe I should start, please let me know.

I was diagnosed with prostatitis, which can be chronic, no matter what the initial cause of the disease is.

if the "odd infection" had been caused by the peanut butter, you should know by now. the stuff is being recalled because the batch with 2111 MAY contain salmonella, which is a bacteria. i stress MAY, because noone has, at this point anyway, become sick from it. usually, if a food product is recalled without people first getting sick from it, it's because the quality control process at the manufacturing facility finds a food born bacteria in a sample. further testing should be able to determine if the sample was tainted by the manufacturing process itself, the raw product, or a worker who has the bacteria and is bringing it to work. the recall is a precautionary measure at this point. if at a time later down the road, people do get sick from salmonella, it will have to be absolutely determined where it came from. since the recall was just announced, it might be jumping the gun a little to be looking for a class action lawsuit. if it turns out that your illness IS salmonella, you might want to look at suing your doctor. food born illnesses have specific, recognizable symptoms, and if they are bad enough to send you to the doctor, who in turn tells you he doesn't know what's making you sick, it's time for a new doctor. keep in mind, with things like salmonella, e. coli, lysteria, etc., the symptoms don't usually show up for 36-72 hours after ingestion, unless it'a a particularly virulent strain, or you're already immuno-compromised. it generally takes at least 24 hours for food to digest, and then, if there is some kind of bacteria, it can take a day or two before your immune system gets too overwhelmed to effectively fight it and you start seeing symptoms. this is why, when people go to the doctor thinking they have food poisoning, the doc. wants to know what the patient has had to eat for the past week. if enough people with the same illness come in and they've shopped at the same store or eaten at the same restaurant (taco bell comes to mind), and if it's determined they all ate the same food, and if it's further determined that the food was tainted thru negligence, that's when you're looking at a lawsuit. i'm so sorry to hear that you have this health issue. if it's possible to get a second opinion from a different doctor, be sure to ask if it's possible that your illness could've been caused by salmonella. p.s. i just saw where people are getting sick from salonella; i missed hearing that this a.m. i plead lack of coffee and my 3 year old trying to get naked and jump on my bed while i was still in it.

Well most people in class action lawsuits get very little. The attorneys are the ones who get the bucks. Next it seems unlikely that you have a chronic decease from salmonella. Not that it couldn't aggravate some other problem. Problems in the digestive system are caused by so many things that doctors work with patients for decades sometimes without finding the cause. I am sure though that you can find a doctor that will connect it to the peanut butter.. There are between 150,000 and 300,000 people each year that die from some mistake in medical care. That is more American lives than any of the wars or natural disasters have claimed in any year, but people still think that doctors know the answers. They kill more people than the ones that are TRYING to kill people. So you will find that it is the one who gets the most and best doctors to be on their side of the story that wins...... Good luck...

My daughter (6 yrs old) was hospitalized for 2 nights, had all the symptoms (this happened the last week of January 2007). They thought it was ILEUS, which was a digestive problems. My daughter had been eating the peanut butter all along, and we still have the jar, and the hospital records (she had SIGNIFICANT abdominal pain that we had to call 911 because we thought it was her appendix). We did this before we knew anything about the recall. I'm definitely on board if you come up with a list or info. Keep me posted.

Actually, almost 300 cases have been specifically linked to this peanut butter. It's an unusual case. Usually the recall comes first, then the cases of actual salmonella may or may not turn up, but in this case almost 300 cases have now been attributed to peanut butter from ConAgra. Call a lawyer.

I have been buying this peanut butter for awhile the great value brand known to sell in Walmart stores. My fiancee has been sick on and off for months now with diarrhea and throwing up etc we thought it was a bug or something. Now i come to find out that this has been going on since August. I haven't found anything about a lawsuit yet. However we will be participating when we do.

The recall is due to suspected salmonella outbreak - suspected only, not proven. Salmonella is not a chronic ailment. It is treated with anitbiotics and is gone - just like a cold.

I also have that pnut butter - have consumed at least 2 jars and have 3 left which I will return to the store and exchange.

Quit looking to jump on a lawsuit bandwagon.

A class action takes years to resolve and is very expensive. And in the end you are still broke and the attorneys are running to the bank. Since you cannot prove that the peanut butter caused your condition you have no case. Just get better and forget about retiring to the Riviera.

The peanut butter was causing salmonella, which is easily identified, I doubt you're going to get anywhere with this.

I threw out two jars of the stuff, and even if we'd been sick, I still wouldn't sue.
