I have no disrespect for Muslim people. I do have disrespect for individuals who stereotype and generalize. This question is a stereotypical generalization.

Islam and Christianity have been at odds for thousands of years. There have been many armed conflicts between followers of the two religions, most notably the Crusades.
Although I can't speak on behalf of all Muslims, they do believe that a peaceful co-existence is something to be strived for. Although I'm sure that there are more than a handful that disrespect other religions.
I have found that most devout Christians have a deep disrespect for anybody that doesn't believe in the same things that they do.
Just a word on 9/11 and suicide bombings. A lot of Christians are so ignorant as to believe that ALL Muslims condone acts such as these. This is a false assumption. These murderers are Islamic Fundamentalists, and saying that all Muslims are like this is like saying that all Christians belong to the KKK.

You're telling lies...again.
Generally, Christians show more respect for Muslims than Muslims for Christians.
In the US, christian law makers make sure that the rights of the Muslim faith is not violated; A US Muslim senator was allowed to swear on the Quran instead of the Bible. However, in Saudi Arabia, a christian could be arrested just for wearing a simple cross.
Even on this forum, I have seen Christians standing up for Muslims; I have hardly seen Muslims here defend Christians here.

I think many Christian people respect most Muslims and realize that Muslim terrorists do not represent Muslims in general. On the other hand, there are Christian fundamentalists who see Muslims as appropriate targets (figuratively and literally). The problem is that both sides have more than enough prior incidents to point to. It's like the Lebanese border where Muslim condone attacks on Jews while Jews condone attacks on Muslims and both sides point to some past wrong. Ultimately we're still fighting Jericho.

I'm a Muslim and I don't respect at least half of the Muslims!
you know why? here is why:
Because of the way they treated the Prophet's beloved ones.
Because most Muslims forgot about Ghadir Khom where the Prophet said that the leadership of Ali (alaih salam) was the same as his leadership. And yet Ali's (alaih salam) rights were ignored.
Because the Prophet said 'Fatima's contentment is my contentment and Fatima's anger is my anger. That which my daughter, Fatima, likes, I like. That which contents Fatima contents me. That which brings about Fatima's anger brings about my anger.'
And yet Omar couldn't stand her.
"Fatima, like a wounded bird, is pressed between two heavy tragedies: the death of the Prophet and the defeat of Ali. Her head is bowed with the weight of the black sorrow. She thinks about the past. She thinks of her father who had always been so worried about the future as to what would the fate be of the religion of justice and its leadership. Bitter sweet memories fill her mind and her spirit. Like a bird who flaps its wings within its cage, wing to wing of her father, flying through the past horizons, she is able to find peace for a few moments from the anger of the tragedy which has most recently fallen upon her and destroyed her home. Suddenly, a loud uproar comes from the mosque. Fatima, in the midst of the uproar, cries and confusion, hears the voice of Omar ibn Khatab saying, 'I will burn this house to the ground with all its inhabitants.'
She hears these words of attack loud and clear. They have come closer now. The door of Fatima's house opens to the mosque. She hears the words of someone in amazement, asking, `Even if Fatima is in there?'
And Omar answers, 'Even if she is in there.' "
This is why she is buried in khafa so that whoever treated her in a bad manner after the Prophet's death could not have the chance to ask for forgiveness.
Do you think the world should respect the majority of Muslims after they themselves (majority of Muslims) treated their own Prophet's memory and family like that?
Read the book Fatima is Fatima by Dr.Ali Shariati and see the rest of my reasons.

I am not a Christian. I try to respect everyone of every faith, color and creed.
I have read the Q'uran several times and have many questions and points I'd like to talk about.
There was a Muslim person here last night that offered to us perfect translation and the "truth" of the Q'uran. He challenged us to ask him any question about the Q'uran we had. I took on his challenge.
He has yet to return an e-mail answer to me...
Every time I attempt to talk to a muslim (even a family member from Egypt) about the finer points of the religion of Islam or the Q'uran, I am talked to in circles that lead nowhere and don't justifiably answer ANY of my questions.
Maybe if just one of you were transparent and opened up to the rest of us, we would be more understanding and respectful?
Any takers?

I know this and this is sad, very sad. I am not a Muslim, but have been brought up in a Muslim country and have fond memories of it. Mohamed is one of the Prophets, and his teachings if applied correctly and soberly, are quite decent. The other sad thing about Islam, is that some extremists give it a bad, a very bad name which, added to ignorance makes things altogether worse. Such a pity !

Many of the Muslims do not. Jews were not allowed access to the Wailing Wall while Muslims controlled the area. The Taliban barbarians killed those who weren't Muslim enough for them. They also destroyed 1000 year old sculptures of Bhudda. In many Muslims nations (saudi Arabia, Iran, for starts), other religions aren't tolerated at all.
Do you condemn Muslim intolerance, or just western intolerance?
Can anyone name a single western nation where Muslims are not allowed to pratice their religion?

Because in al religions it is about who is right and who is wrong, muslims are the second leading religion making them the closest enemy. This dates back to the crusades, and in current times muslims are making Huge attacks on the christian's "home country" when i say home country i mean the one with the highest concentration of christians.
