My dad came home from work today with a very annoyed look on his face.....this morning as he and his friend went into tesco's on their way work, for a cup of tea, my dad decided to buy a pack of Tesco Value Choclate biscuits. His friend ate one, and was almost sick, saying "o my god there's white spirit in them!" when he got home, i tasted a small piece of one (without swallowing it!) and spat it out straight away too, and my mouth still taste's of solvents now (i ate it 2 hours ago)
what do we do???? who do we contact? my dad called tesco's but they didnt want to know about it....
thanks in advance for any answers

Contact your local council and ask them to connect you to the food hygiene department without reporting it to Tesco's. Then, when you find out what's wrong, go get 'em!
The problem is they will ask you who the manufacturer is before the chemical test is performed. I personally wouldn't trust a test's accuracy if they know Tesco's the seller...
So your alternative is to get it tested first YOURSELF at an independent chemical lab, like perhaps a university's.
In the end tell us what happened!

Send it to or contact Food Hygiene/ Environmental Health Dept at local council offices - they could be in big doodoo's!
I hope he still has the receipt though!
Tesco's policy is to deny anything at the initial stage - he could make an appointment to see the store manager - but don't give him the full packet - threaten to send it to Food Standards Agency/Environmental Health.
Tesco will also say that they will send them for analysis at their testing station - common ploy to get the item off of you - don't let them take all of them - give them ONE biscuit only!
I feel a compensation offer coming on

Try again, in this day of extreme competition between the Big 5, I think they are very foolish to ignore your dad and what a health hazard. If they ignore again ask for head office email address and register your complaint. Good Luck. Just drink some milk it will help with any of the stuff you my have swallowed,

you obviously spoke to the wrong person at Tesco's they would have sent someone to your house straight away so why not phone again and demand to speak to the manager or deputy other than that email Glasgow head office

The packet should have an address on saying "if you are not completely satisfied....blah blah blah"
send them there, also, keep a couple back, and note the serial numbers from the packaging and send them to your local Environmental health department who will also investigate it.
