8, can barley eat at first, but your gums start to kinda ease a lil as the days go by. it hurts to talk or chew on anything to hard. its like a pain you cant get rid of because its your gums. And if they hurt, it means that they are working. it's a good and bad thing

The pain is nothing as soon as you get them on, but after about an hour, it's about an 8 or so. Eat a meal right after you get them on, cause after about an hour you won't be able to tolerate eating for several hours, and even after a few hours you won't want to chew, haha. You live on soup or chicken broth for about a day or two. This is also true when you get them tightened! Good luck.
If you're tough though, its better to chew gum or something to work out the soreness faster, but I'm a weiner so I wasn't brave enough to make the soreness go away faster, haha

When I got my braces on it didnt hurtwhen they put them on it was right after it started to hurt so I would say 7 or 8. The first week or two it is hard to eat anything cause your gums do hurt. But when you go to get them tightened it does hurt for a little bit.

Whoah.... I'm gonna have to go with 9. I was miserable for the first couple of days. You can barely bite down on anything. My diet for the first week consisted of bananas and soup. The good thing is I lost weight!! I got them on on a Thurs. hating life on Sat. and Sun. Got better and within 2 weeks was just fine. I've only had them on for about 45 days and am scheduled for my first tightening in a couple of weeks. I'm sure they'll be sore but only for a couple of days I hope.

It depends. Depends on a lot of things. It depends on the type of person you are. Depends on how much pain you can tolerate. Depends on how much you move around when they're trying to put them on. If you have low pain tolerance (lpt) take a stress ball and squeeze the hell out it when your there. If you've got medium pain tolerance (mpt) just relax and it'll be ok. If your pain tolerance is high (hpt) it's not going to hurt because your like me and could slash yourself on accident and have to get stitches for it and still fell barely any pain. If you think you've got (hpt) and it does hurt then obviously your pain tolerance isn't that high. Good luck.

I never had them but my niece did and she gave it a 10. Then I have others who say no more than a 5 so I guess it depends on your orthodontist and your threshold of pain
