There seems to be this conflict between religion and science. The scientists are saying the believers are morons, and the believers are saying that the scientists are sinners. Why is there this need to fight? People seem to think that religion and science can't get along. Why is that?

I think I need to clarify my question. I don't think it's actually religion and science that don't get along, but the people in them. It seems like people think only religion or science can be right. Why don't people think God and Science can mix?

Mostly because, in general, scientists do not understand religion and vice-versa. To those scientists who dismiss God and religion out of hand, their own theories have become their dogma. Likewise, many people of faith are unwilling to look beyond a text that was written to explain the world to people who had no knowledge of modern science. Many who are reasonably well versed in both see harmonies between science and religion, not conflict....at least in many areas.

Scientists don't say very much about religion. Creationists would be disappointed if they knew just how much of a non-issue they were to the scientific community.
