I wrote a check to my job that I found out today was returned nsf. I accidentially grabbed the wrong check book and thought I had written it out of another account, it was an honest mistake and I have the cash to cover the check. I am scared that I am going to lose my job over an accident. I always write checks there and this is the first time something like this has ever happened. How should I approach them to tell them. I want to tell them before they find out about it and make good on the check.

Go and talk to your boss right away!! As a boss myself I always respect it when an employee can admitt a mistake and take care of it prior to my finding out. Just explain how it was an honest mistake and be prepared to pay for the check and any fees in cash. The sooner the better.

I would say go in and talk to your manager and explain what had happened and pay it immediately don't procrastinate just do it. It's not the end of the world. It happens to everyone once in their life. As long as you make an effort it shouldn't be held against you. All they could do is demand cash when paying.

Just tell your boss and offer to pay cash plus whatever charge they incur for the return...I had that happen when I worked at WalMart and it was no problem. Mistakes happen!

Just tell them. If it's a first time, and it was by mistake, what do you have to be afraid of? Honesty is appreciated, much more than them finding out after you've already obviously known about it. Don't worry and just do it.
