Well, I am a Christian but I also believe in a message by William Branham. It's tough to explain in these little text boxes but basically what it comes down to is that I am the girl who believes you should wear skirt/dresses and dress modestly. I have never cut my hair and don't wear make up. I don't drink, smoke, do drugs or anything like that. When people look at me, I know I am seen as some kind of religious fanatic but it really is different than that. I don't do those things because they are rules, I do them because there is something inside of me that wants to do them. About a year ago I strayed from my beliefs and was out drinking and partying with the best of them but at that time, I had never felt so alone even though I had a ton of friends. There is a joy that comes within you when you are serving God. You can't explain it to those who don't know it though. If you have never experienced it, you don't know what you're missing. I know what I went through last year without him and it made me have so much sympathy for those who don't know him because they are misssing out on so much.

the nature of humans is to find something other than themselves to either blame things on or to give credit to. Religion is the highest form of this type of rejection of responsibility.

Ok, that said for the cynical side:) As a spiritual person I feel that its also a way to give a sense of order to an overwhelming universe. When a person starts to think about the vastness and complexities of the world, it can get very scary unless you have something to give you a feeling of protection and comfort.

Just my 2 cents worth

Death is a certain promise when all else fails. It is not a thing meant to control the masses. Now christianity is a different story. They feel they can do whatever they want and still go to heaven because they were baptised in jesus' name and accept him as thier personal lord and savior. But anyways, when death aproaches you, then you might change your story. Correction, when GOD aproaches, then you will change your story. Religion is actually a beautifull thing. Culture is the thing that disgusts me. PEACE!

It gives many people hope and comfort, which is the initial intent of religion.

However, more often than not, religion is misused to control the masses, used as an excuse to hate, and used to gain power and profit. Obviously, this was not what it was intended to do, but this is what it has become.

Religion is to confuse people to get away from the true Teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ and the Bible. God didn't create Religion man did.

Well, I think you didn`t study religion very well , because you have to think with mind and heart . Do not look in a very material way . Religion is faith . I think we are in a test by God . from us those who choose to do right everything will go to heaven , those who choose bad ways will Go to hell. Of course God may forgive us if he wants . I will be pleased if you contact me in person..

ages ago before religions....man used to face the natural disasters by himself and normally they were stronger than him...and may cause death to people he loves.

then he tried to find out an established source of power from where he could ask for help (worship) in order to defeat the nature and seek security.

e.g : the fire...the sun...the idols.....the stars...etc.

then he developed some pivotal thoughts like Karma..Dharma and Destiny....(he must behave good manners so his god will pay him back good things in return)

then God introduced himself to man through scripture.

God gave us something to eat then gave us something to believe in (love).

bottom line : religion is a human need to overcome insecurity & fears...because love is stronger than fear.

good luck
