How do you not realize that your job is going to be stressful after they issue you kevlar and a gun? I mean if you can't even make such a simple connection as that do you even belong on the force?

Are you generalizing all police officers or are you just talking about yourself? Yeah I agree with you , YOU DON"T BELONG ON THE FORCE.

The officer underestimates the amount of stress involved. And who's around the most? The wife... so she gets the brunt of his stress- unfortunately.
The amount of crap officers see will blow the average person's mind. Everyone knows there is evil in the world.... but these officers see firsthand the children that are abused by their fathers, mother's boyfriends, etc.... they see the severed body parts in the road, the babies abused because the mother couldn't control her stress. Think of the officer who responded to the call of the baby in the microwave- UGH!
In no way am I ever justifying spousal abuse, I just understand where it comes from. Those who can't control their stress need to run, box, martial arts or something.... they need to find somehow to rid their bodies of this disgust, anger and resentment.

I didn't know police officers beat their wives. Is it every single officer ? Also the connection between a stressful job and beating wives... what do you do for a living ?

The job has nothing to do with it--some are abusers just like others in all walks of life!! I worked in DOC and never went home and beat my husband!!
