hi, a camera is a very delicate and fragile equipment that most of them time cannot even take a hard knock - dropping it usually means that your camera is damaged - it's just a matter of how badly damaged it is.

you can send it to the service centre and see if it is repairable and the costs for doing so, and evaluate whether it is cheaper to get a new one or to repair the old one.

try to be more careful in the future. try to get a dry box for your camera if your camera is a heavy investment. there are also protective accesories for certain camera models that prevent scratches and so on.

If it is a small point-and-shoot camera, chances are it's history. The cost of opening and repairing such small & complex electronics would likely be hundreds of dollars. These days, you can probably get a better camera for more than the cost of repairing this one.

It's probably broken, but I'd replace the batteries , just to be sure, before I take it in for service or throw it away!

See if the warrenty is still valid and if it is then return it and get a new one. If the warrenty isn't valid then buy a new camera at BH Photo!
