There is a way to man that seems right. That leads to death.
Our instincts fail us, assuming we have any - but we'll go with your word.
If we leave God out of the picture, where does right and wrong come in - how can you assume one person's instincts are the correct ones.
God aside - one person has no problem having sex with anyone who will have them. Another thinks celibacy is the only way to go.
With animals, might is right - and if I'm stronger than you, what I say is right - and you are wrong.
Instinct is to protect self and an animal will do whatever it takes, even breaking the law of the herd/pack/pod to protect self. If that means killing to supplant a leader, or maybe just because they want to get ahead - then instinct says it's right.
Putting God back in, we are made in God's image - and as such are beyond instinct - it is this which tells us what is wrong - not our instincts. Left to our instincts, we will chose against God.
Now the image of Satan. Nice avatar, but Satan is a spirit - has no inherent image... but when he does show up - he appears as something very appealing, not an aged Santa monkey man.

Just because we know right from wrong does not mean that we will choose to do right. Murder is wrong, people know it is wrong, but there are still murderers. They choose to murder.
The Bible lets us know that we are accountable to Jehovah for what we do and how we live. And the same things that Jehovah disagreed with 3000 years ago are widely tolerated, practiced and accepted as normal today, such as fornication, homosexuality, and the exploitation of the weak and poor.
The advice to avoid doing these things is found in the Bible. It is just as relevant today as it was when it was finished, its just that no one wants to be accountable to anyone for their actions.
Satan is not a horrible looking creature with horns and forked tail, he is an evil angel. He looks like all other angels, only he is evil.
Every angel described in the Bible was generally the same description, with wings, beautiful creatures, and Satan is no different, that is how he misleads people so easily, because he appears to be something hes not, good. The description of Satan today, the horns etc. stem from Greek mythology's god pan. a pagan god. Pan is depicted half man half goat with horns and cloven hoofs. That is where the modern day view of Satan comes from.

Jim...are you drinking today.....3000 years????
You asked about killing being wrong...not if we know right and wrong by instinct. And you did not answer if that knowledge had evolved either.
I do not think all right and wrong has to come from religion. I do believe in the THEORY that we have a place in our brain of ancient memories but that may not be where right and wrong and good and bad come from. Different tribes may have had different ethical beliefs.
What I do think the Bible tells us is what I wish MORE Christians would adhere too...to love God, to love all others even sinners and people "not like" us, to not throw stones, to get the log outta their eye before the work on the little splinter in others and to get thee away from judging...and that mere mortals, mere humans, no matter what they believe...are not in charge of heaven or hell (if there is one) or WHO goes there, lol.
No...I do not belive that is the correct image that I have of Satan...it may be correct to others...but how would they have known about Santa Clause???

The Bible has two purposes Sean, one, to let us know that God is real, and two, a plan for Christian living.
You can know right from wrong (the Bible says the law is written on our hearts) but that doesn't mean you know God or understand His will for your life. That's what the Bible is for.
And, no, that is not the correct image of Satan. Satan was the worship leader in Heaven before his pride made him fall, so I imagine he looks like an incredibly beautiful angel.

Yeah, but there is always the teachings of punishment when you have done wrong.
And there are the teachings of glory when you are being good.
Not that i agree with this, but when you are a parent, you have to teach your child the difference in behaviors. Rewarding and punishing is the only way that the child is going to learn that they behavior that they are displaying is either wanted or unwanted.
The thing with the Bible is that freethinkers and followers realized this theory and had to write many stories to make sure that was passed on.

Your intestine instincts ought to keep your existence. that is our sixth experience. I continually take heed to my intestine, regardless of if my heart or head tell me some thing in the different case. yet don't be fooled; once you're blinded through love (i.e. in an abusive relationship) and prefer to stay because your intestine THINKS you want him... then it ought to kill you. do not enable your self be blinded through love and make certain you interpret your difficulty through your human being eyes, and then from an outside attitude. that is how I see issues :)

We don't. Although some insights are helpful from a variety of sources, especially when ethics are complex judgment calls between multiple undesirable outcomes.
Like "an out of control bus is rolling down a street, and the driver can either steer it toward an X or a Y" kind of situations.
Having said that, I don't find much ethical guidance in the Bible.

People do not know right from wrong by instinct. They need to be taught by their parents from the start as early as childhood.
