So, when people have asked questions on tattoos many times I come across someone simply putting "Leviticus 19:28" and telling them to read into it. I myself am not highly religious, but I do have some faith in me. So I looked into it. Then I came upon a site of highly devoted christians that are tattooed. They explain the conviction well and on the same not put that to rest.
You can view this site:

So I'm kind of wondering, where do people still come off in believing God hates tattooed people?
I've also heard of some kind of mythology or religion where some sort of god or saint judges you by the tattoos covering your body. It's supposed to show an adverturous life and will grant you to move on past him...something along those lines.
Anyone know what that is?
I'm just interested in the whole idea of religion and tattoo. I'm sure its been discussed through and through but I'm too lazy to go back and look.

I've been told I will be disregarded by god for my tattoos. Close enough to god hates tattoos.
I take amazing care of my body. I don't deface it. I'm covered with beautiful art, so I don't get that?? I don't have a monkey eating his own feces on me or gang signs or offensive material.
I also work out and eat very well.
So what am I doing wrong exactly?

Hey Mama.... I'm assuming that you're referring to all the yokels that show up whenever someone asks a question about a new tattoo....and starts haranguing them about burning in hell with their tattoos......etc. Mama....those people AREN'T Christians. No true Christian would EVER judge another person based on their looks or their socioeconomic background. If someone does .....then they aren't a Christian....it's that simple. (My theory is that the people who protest tattoos the most secretly yearn for them but are stopped by their fear of pain, their fear of being ostracized by their peers, and the fear that is caused by their own twisted prejudices and hatreds) So they feel that since they CAN'T have one....neither should anyone else.
The fact is early Christians were persecuted by the Romans and had to practice their religion in secret. Many of them use tattooed symbols to identify each other....the most popular of these symbols still survives today (The sign of the fish)...
Hope this helps
thanks for letting me rant

i don't think it has been discussed much on here, other than people condemning people to hell for getting tattooed. i am a christian and it does say in the bible not to get tattooed, in the old testament. if you go back and read the old testament that is where the "eye for an eye" came from and not eating certain foods and many other beliefs and laws. most modern churches don't abide by the "laws" given in the old testament other than the 10 commandments. i go by the new testament. as far as i know there isn't anything in there saying don't get tattooed. i believe God judges you on your faith and how you lived your life, not what you have on your body. ANYWAY i'm sure no two people will be in total agreement on here but that's my two cents.

God doesn't hate tattooed people. God loves everyone. In Leviticus 19:28 it states "Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourself. I am the Lord." It isn't the right thing to do, but if you do it God will still love you. Why don't you attend a Church this Sunday to learn more about God's love for you.

I don't think God is saying that if you have a tattoo then you will be condemned to hell. But that our bodies are a reflection, and belong to Him, and we aren't doing what He wants us to do by defiling it. I personally don't have any tats but I use to have my tongue pierced, and it always irked me how I was judged. God is the only person who can judge anyone, and just because you have tats or piercings doesn't make you bad or anti-religious. I don't know if that helps or not but just my opinion and observation. I am a christian and have been for a while, I am Baptist and sometimes they can be a little conservative. Anyway good luck in your quest for knowledge.

I am a Christian, and I have two beautiful tattoes...God's only stipulation for salvation is to accept Jesus Christ. I believe that you are right - and while I do believe that the Bible is the Word of God, I think that it has to be read in context with some of the beliefs of the time. I know that I have Jesus in my heart - and He could care less whether or not I have tattoes.

I have never heard anyone say that God hates tattoos.
I've heard a lot of people say that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit, so it's a pretty good bet that we should all be taking care of them, feeding them good food, working them out, etc. and not defacing them with random tatoos and piercings nor allow random people access to them (ie non-marital sex.).

i have a cross and 2 sparrows on my back. i highly dought when i die and God is judging me, He will ask me "why do you have a cross, which represents my son, and 2 sparrows which represents protection on your body". I put this on my body to let everyone know that I do believe in my Lord, and frankly anyone who says anything to degrade what I believe is not worthy of my concern.
