Apparently they didn't, and if you refer to earlier in the story of Exodus, neither did God.

Jim...sorry, you did not make the cut when they published Revelations in the Bible...maybe next time okay (lose the santa hat, that may have been the problem).
I do not know how people knew killing was wrong before the ten commandments. Maybe that is something just programmed in us. I mean...there are people...even those who speak the name Christian...who have no problem whatsoever with killing another human. And...in those days killing was often necessary for self-defense and defense of home and hearth. Still I think they must have realized some concept of death and grief at loss in some way. Now...do you think that primitive knowledge has evolved?

Have you not read your Bible? When Cain murdered his brother Abel, he knew it was wrong. That was way before Moses' time.
As for the appearance of the Beast - the Beast has the capacity to appear in any form, again according to the Bible. Right now, he's in the White House posing as President of the United States!

Because a moral code was written into a person's mind. This is part of the classical proof for the existence of God. If there were no God man would have no sense of right or wrong. Yet we do and we therefore have no reason to disclaim we were never given a chance to accept God's call to repentence.
The remainder of your question is too flippant to warrant a serious answer.

The natural law is written on the hearts of all. We hear it through listening to our consciences.
However original sin has inclined our wills towards evil and clouded our ability to form a correct conscience. Therefore God had needed to tell us the moral law with more clarity through Sacred Scripture and the teaching authority of the Catholic Church.

All cultures (pre-christian and post) have had a set of guidelines to live by. Murder being the main transgression addressed. Just because one particular group made the guidelines "holy" doesn't mean that all the people before were incapable of basic common sense.

Prior to the revelation at Sinai, it wasn't murder if the strong killed the wear, or the rich killed the poor. Only after the revelation was every life put on a much more equal footing.

Cain murdered his brother Abel and instinctively knew that it was wrong, because he tried to hide the fact that he'd killed his brother from God. This was long before the 10 commandments. So I guess the answer is, people knew by instinct.

The ten commandments never came from God (since he's not real) The Ten Commandments were a list of social guild lines which were elevated to the level of the divine so ppl would follow them...period.

Most social species have evolved with some degree of behavioral inhibitions against murder.
