This is an metaphor, that uses the idea of someone perparing for a battle. For the Christian it means to take control of your earthly desires, your lusts, and carnality. To take your thoughts captive and to protect your mind and heart from the forces of evil. In other words, protect yourself, put on the full armor of God so that you will be ready to fight the good fight and will be able to stand against the forces of the Evil one. Anyway, God bless! ps the book Waking the Dead by John Eldredge is a fantastic book that is kind of about spiritual warfare.

get ready- (because what ever it is, you aren't going to like it!)

the phrase has multiple meanings, but literally it means, tighten up your groin area because someone is going to kick you in the nuts.

Your loins is your groin area and the pivoting point on the front of the top of your legs. You know, the soft spots.
