The ones in the nearby supermarket are expensive and not that fresh. They're usually not as fresh as I want them to be after I keep them in the fridge for about a week. How can I keep them crispy in the fridge? I'm talking about bananas, grapes, peaches, tomatoes, green pepper, lettuce, cucumbers and black olives.

I know what you mean. Maybe the farmer's market. I go to FoodMax (its a store, I don't know how many other stores they have) anyways, its pretty cheap, about a dollar per pound for fruits and veggies.

Bananas and tomatoes should not be put in the refrigerator. Very fresh and homegrown peaches are better if left at room temperature. If they have already been refrigerated at the store, then do the same at home.
I wash all the lettuce the day I buy it in a salad spinner. that removes the excess water & moisture. Put the clean lettuce in a large zip lock bag and it will stay crisp and last abouat a week.
I also wash the grapes and cukes and refridgerate them..
Our big box supermarket receives their shipment of fruits and veggies on Tuesdays each week, so I buy then when its fresh.

Farmers market is best when fruits and veggies are in season. I have also had luck at Aldi's a discount grocery store. You might try large flea markets too. If you have a Whole Foods or other healthy grocery store the non-organic food is usually comparable in price to traditional grocery stores, but much fresher.

farmer's market.
around here there's one that is run by a college with a horticulture program and they're very selective. you want LOCALLY GROWN produce. and it's better for the environment because there are fewer costs for transporting it. i am a "picker" at an organic farm. i pay yearly then go there to pick my fruits and veggies. very fresh.
you could consider a co-op of some sort.

buy them as frequently as you can instead of trying to store them. if you buy from a farm and they have dirt and soil on them do not wash it off until you re ready to eat the fruit or veg. this will preserve it for a good week longer than the pre washed in the supermarket.
