Keep her quiet and calm. Don't let her jump or run or she may end up ripping her stitches. Your vet should also give you instructions to follow after surgery. Thank you for being a responsible pet owner!

It is not unusual for dogs to have a reaction to a vaccination. It may have been the vaccine that was causing her problems, not the shot. So, hopefully things will go better with the spaying.

Your vet should give you advice on care, feeding post-op, and what to watch for. Generally you will need to keep the dog subdued for a few days - no major games of fetch or that sort of thing. Most dogs seem to feel like themselves again in a couple of days.

Good for you for getting your dog spayed. In the long run, your dog will be healthier and happier for it. When you bring her home, she'll probably be very tired and sore. She may remain this way for as long as a week. It's important to just give her a soft bed in her crate to lie in, and make sure she has lots of fresh water available.

Don't worry, it's normal for her to be acting drowsy and tired after any operation. She will get over it. It's just up to you to make her nice and comfortable while the effects of surgery wear off. Your vet will probably give you tips and instructions as well, be sure to ask them questions.

Keep her quiet and make sure that she doesn't bother the surgery site. You might want to ask your vet about giving her a baby aspirin, or some Rimadyl (doggie aspirin).

My parents have a maltese puppy...their second Maltese....they are such a great breed of dog!!
