Life isn't fair. I have no clue why they decided to make an example of him but not penalize anyone else in the same manner.

The fuel MW was using is a far more serious rule violation than what the other teams got pentalized for. Maybe you should read up on who got pentalized for what and why. MW's car went thru inspection once and they had to change something already that wasn't right on the car. When it came back thru inspection the 2nd time, they noticed the odor from the fuel and realized he was running illegal fuel, from what I hear it was Jet Fuel, not sure if that is accurate that was from Jayski and his sources. The other teams were pentalized by their crew cheifs being suspended for the race, however, their violation isn't even an actual rule in NASCAR, but a call by the officials. NASCAR has said before they are going to get a lot tighter and stricter with the rules, and this just shows they mean business. Nothing wrong with them upholding the rules. Follow the rules, and you have nothing to worry about.

Nascar considered messing with the fuel a bigger no-no then the other stuff. Thats why Michael got the big penalty but, with that said.....you know as well as I this stuff(so called cheating) has been going on all the time. It's just recently that Nascar is trying to even up the playing field by having everything alike. Personally, I don't like it. I don't like all the rules. I like Nascar "Old School."

The stuff done to the exteriors of the cars that got busted is different in the minds of Robin Pemberton and the competition committee. First of all some of those infractions weren't necessarily spelled out plainly in the "NASCAR bible" of rules. Is there a specific rule about drilling holes in the screws that hold on the spoiler? Yes, the air ducts that we are getting to know more about than we ever cared to are supposed to be sealed but with what and how good do they have to be sealed? I know and you know what the intent was but those infractions are not quite as black and white as a fuel additive that provides noticeably more horsepower. Don't mess with the tires (though Childress got away with that last year), engine (especially the restrictor plates) and fuel because in NASCAR that's a felony.

Have you read what happened last time someone was caught messing with the fuel/fuel delivery system? What about the time before that? Well, here goes:

2006 - Todd Berrier (#29 CC) was suspended for messing with the fuel reading which showed a false full tank (required during qualifying). Suspended 4 races.

And before that, Jeremy Mayfield's #12 team (when he was with Penske) was penalized 151 driver and owner points (amount of points difference between 1st and last at the time) for using unapproved fuel.

So, NASCAR takes it's fuel seriously.

Evernham's teams all got penalized too. In fact, Kasey Kane's crew chief has been suspended for 4 races. They aren't making an example of Waltrip. He had more serious infractions and more of them than the other teams. That is why the difference in the fines and points.

Michael was penalized the most because, an illegal fuel additive, is a big deal. furthermore, the Evernham teams, only had unapproved bolts in the spoilers and, they were noticed before qualifying so they were changed out beforehand so it wasn't that big of a deal.

I was watching Nascar Now yesterday and they said the stiff penalty had something to do with the fact that it's a new manufacturer - they wanted to step up and show that Toyota wasn't going to get away with anything.... Atleast I think that was the ESPN folks were saying.

Because he messed with his FUEL/FUEL DELIVERY.Even if the substance was not in the fuel cell ,if it was placed inside the intake manifold it would still be picked up by the FUEL/AIR mixture as it made its way through the manifold into the cylinders.Messing with your fuel is akin to a felony as far as the NASCAR TECH. INSPECTORS are concerned. Evernham & Roushs' deals are a misdemeaner in comparison.

Because he cheated worse than anyone in the history of Nascar. He put JET FUEL in his car for crying out loud!

waltrip's was in the engine. Obviously it's going to be more harsh. and jus because all the guys at evernham cheated doesn't mean it should be worse.
