i have eaten it for months and have not gotten sick. i talked to the doctor and he said throw it away anyway because it could still have salmonella in a different spot.

Yes, sure have. I had stomach pains and the diarrhea, but didn't realize what had caused it. My son has eaten it, too.

I didn't even hear about the recall until I logged onto Yahoo this morning. The company (Con Agra) that manufactures the peanut butter has been testing their product (not just recently), and still hasn't found traces of salmonella. It just so happens that a few of the people who were hospitalized for salmonella (about 20 percent) happened to eat the peanut butter. There is no definite connection between the product and the illnesses; the Peter Pan people are just protecting themselves.

That being said: if I had any of that product (with the flagged serial numbers) in my cupboard, I would throw it out, mail in the lid, and get my $1.49 refund. It's just peanut butter; it's not as if they're recalling my car.

I have eaten Peter Pan peanut butter in the past few weeks with the code they are now warning people about - "2111" and I have not been sick from it.. so I myself am wondering if it had salmonella in it.. I should have gotten sick from it, right? as that is what brought me to your question.. am I looking up info on it. but I won't eat anymore of it.
