EEK glad I saw this...please NO don't put it in hot water to thaw!!! That is a good way to spoil the meat and make yourself ill. The rest of that answer is a good one. Seal it well but put it in COOL (but not ice cold) water, turn it several times and when it starts to soften break or cut it up in smaller pieces so it will thaw more quickly. The preferred way is running water but it will be ok to just put it in a bowl and check it in about half an hour, maybe turn it once during that and change the water. Repeat until thawed.
Of course the best way is if you have a microwave with thaw settings. Personally I find the best way if I have to rush it is to put my microwave at 20% and set it for about 5 minute intervals and check it and break up and stir it. Then let it totally cool down (maybe 10 minutes) and then give it another 5 until done. Otherwise the outside will cook, the inside will still be frozen and when you cook it, it will have a rubbery taste. 20% is low enough to just thaw it without that.
Good luck! You should have plenty of time if you get on it soon!
ETA; Got a phone call while writing this...see someone gave a similar reply. I mean no disrespect but I've done it with non-running water many times. Long as it's cool you will be fine--it's just not the "preferred" way. Just please no hot water!!!! Be safe!

place it in a room temperature cast iron skillet. The skillet has a large amount of heat, even through it is not hot in temperature. It will gradually warm the hamburger.

You can microwave it or put in under cold running water (NOT warm or hot - that will cause bacteria to grow and can kill you or make you very ill). Do nt let it sit in water that is not running. It must be running water, cold.

If you don't have a microwave with defrost setting I'd try putting the hamburger in a sealed (like glad or tupperware) container and putting it in a sink full of warm/hot water.

If it's still in the package, take it out and put it in a large zip lock type bag. Soak in lukewarm water.
