My poor little Sasquatch is about seven weeks pregnant and I noticed today in the litter box there are little worms there. They are short and actually look like teeny tiny maggots but they aren't those and are about 1/2 to 1 inch long. Should I wait til she has her kits or will they be infected as well? Is there a product I can get at the pet store? I really can't afford a vet visit right now. Please help asap. Thanks!

No you should not worm a pregnant cat. Worm her after she gives birth and repeat in 10 days. When kittens are 6 weeks old worm them repeat after 10 days and do momma again as well. (both times) Premium makes a great 8 in 1 liquid wormer that cats actually love the taste of I just buy an inexpensive dropper and they suck it out. I think I got it at walmart. If you search the web you can find it available online too. hope this helps good luck with the babies!

Sounds like tape worms, looks like flat little peices of white rice? If that is the case then Droncit will clear it up and I'm almost possitive it's fine in a pregnant animal. These are caused by injesting fleas, be sure the cat is free of fleas to if possible. Not sure what to use for that in a pregnant animal ask the vet if Frontline would be OK since I know it is one of the best. *Revolution is another good one*

To make life easy take a stool sample in with you so you don't have to make another trip. Most vets are comfortable with a discription of a tapeworm, but if they aren't sure that is what you are talking about they will want to check to see what the cat has to make sure it gets the right medication.

The vet may be willing to give you the medication with just a telephone consult if they have seen you and the cat before. Call and ask.
