My fiance and I are thinking about getting a claddagh ring or something like it. Will we regret this fifty years from now? We are both fairly liberal, and want something to express it. Thanks.

cladagh rings and other celtic rings are beautiful!! my engagement ring is a solid band of celtic knotwork with a garnet stone, and we got open trinity knot bands for our wedding bands, they're beautiful!! i can't wait to wear mine!! it doesn't match my engagemtn ring, but that's ok!! the only thing with our bands is that we originally wnated to engrave our bands, but since they're not solid, we obviously can't do that... i think having something detailed, and personal is better than plainness. it will illustrate who you are!! and since claddagh rings have survived this long, they'll still be around in a hundred more years!! congrats!!

I really like the idea of the two of you picking it out and having it symbolize a deep belief that you share. I say buy the non-traditional claddagh (not sure what an ancient and deeply sentimental symbol like the claddagh has to do you being "fairly liberal, but...) and if some day it no longer reflects you and your wife's beliefs - sell it and get a new set that does!

I went with a plain gold band, so it would look good with my engagement ring (which is fairly simple, also - since we didn't buy them as a set.) I was really happy with my decision when my husband bought me a yellow sapphire & diamond band for our 5th anniversary. I can wear all 3 & it doesn't look gaudy or overdone. But I'm a pretty simple person & this is just my taste.

But just so you know - my dad has an Army buddy who married an Irish lady (from Ireland) 50+ years ago. He still wears his claddagh ring (& so does she) - they look great!

Go ahead with the claddagh ring, if thats what you both think is best than yous will not regreat it later. It shows off who you two really are and it has great meaning. Go for it, and there wont be any worries

The rings are a symbol and have heartfelt meaning to each of you, no matter what happens in 50 years, these rings will always hold the value of what you feel today and those memories will be precious forever. best of luck and happiness always

If you guys like the rings, then you will like them 50 years from now. Don't worry about it as long as the rings mean something to you.

If incase you end up as friends after fifty years, the memory of that ring shouldnt be worthless, cause thats the token of your love before.Besides its not the quantity that counts its the thought that count....

Me and my husband chose to have plain bands but had the wedding date engraved on the top in roman numerals. Its personal preference so if you have doubts now i wouldnt do it. Have a great wedding x

you don't want earrings at a Registry workplace wedding ceremony. basically warn the Registrar in the previous the marriage that you basically isn't having earrings. the in trouble-free terms stipulation is you need to be free to marry, it must be legal for you to marry in the united kingdom and that you've 2 witnesses.

If that fits your (and especially her) style go for it. It should represent your relationship not anyone elses ideal.

If you want to buy some big bling bling later you can. Anniversery is an excellent opprotunity, and you wont be locked into diamonds (I love saphires)
