It's hard, as they can be the same thing sometimes. Spirit guides often use dreams to say something important to you. So the best thing to do is take your dream and try to figure out the message in it. What is it saying to you?

Couldn't a spirit guide (guardian angle, dead family member - whatever you want to call it) come in a dream?

I've had one or two dreams which I've felt were divinely inspired...and all I can say is they've come with a very distinct, identifiable feeling of peace and love.
