Hi there, I suffer from really dry skin as well, in fact, so dry that it's peeling in places...gross I know. But I never use lotion anymore after reading an article I found somewhere (don't ask me where) that lotion actually dries out the skin. What you need is a moisturizer. I've found that washing my face with the new Nutrogena Face Wash that comes in that blue liquid form with the blue beads is AWESOME for my face, and then I use Aveeno Daily Moisturizer in it that helps with the redness and flakiness of my skin. I've been doing this process now for about a week, and I can already see a big difference. My mom recommended using the daily moisturizer right after you wash your face so that you trap in the water to help hydrate your skin. (She read that in an article somewhere too lol) Good luck!!

I have extremely dry skin and asked my doctor about lotions that are available. She recommended Eucerin, she said it is the strongest over the counter lotion available. I use vaseline a few times a week, it feels gross but does help w/dry skin (especially feet, hands, put it on my feet then sleep in socks).

I suggest a salt or sugar scrub with almond oil or jojoba oil.
The salt or sugar will remove the dead skin and the oil can be absorbed. Don't rub too hard. Jojoba oil is best almond is 2nd. They are easily and quickly absorbed by your skin. They stay longer than the water in a lotion before being carried away by the blood stream etc.If you can't find it in a store try e-bay.

I find Vaseline Intensive Care with Aloe Vera a very good choice. In fact, any lotion with either Vitamin E or Aloe will do fine. Another nice alternative is Lubraderm.

My dermatologist recommended Cetaphil for my extremely dry skin. It comes in a lotion and cream. They have worked GREAT for me. All my scales are gone.
