To hard to soon. You need to ease yourself into working out. Don't just jump on a treadmill and run 8 miles out of the blue. If you joined a gym, a trainer may be able to help you develop a plan that will gradually get you up to an intense work out. Otherwise, just start slow. Your body will tell you what you can handle. (You obviously can't handle whatever you are doing now)

You might be working or pushing your body too hard. Especially if it has been a long time since you have really worked out. Ease back into things and then start picking up the pace after you have been in the game for a while again.
