No it's not, you only feel it more because you have to buy an extravagant gift to make up for the times all around the year when you didn't treat it like Valentine' Day. Every day should be V Day.

i think that people should not have to feel obligated to buy someone they "love" something just because its valentines day. i mean if there is no meaning behind it whats the point. and yes it is punishment for the wallet.

yes, but a bit of a dilemma. If you ignore it well - its not romantic. But if you get something it can be tacky! Do not fall for the one who says - let's not get each other something - they always do!Get something such as ticket for a concert or cinema on another day!
