I have one dog, he is alittle over two years old. he is a am staff/blk chow mix. About a week ago my friends stayed over with her female boxer and they just had the best time playing and chasing one another... When she left alls he did was mope around the house and lay where the female slept.. Right now when were not home and the dog sitter isnt there my dog has full run of the basement.. well my friend is moving to florida and might have to get rid of her dog.. my friend does wasnt to just give her dog to any one and she says that she would only turn her over to me.. cause she knows i'll take good care of her and she would be in a loving home.. well recently i just loxst my boxer to cancer and her little boxer just reminds me so much of my old dog maxine.. except she is a fawn not a reverse brindle.. what do you think i should do.. whether my friend gives me her dog or not

every time i see roit it makes me think of maxine and how much fun i had with her by my side all the time.. maxine was my childhood dog and showed me how much she loved me in every way.. the day she past away my friend tricia was actually there with me.. she said when she has to go through what i did with her two boxer, i was going to have to fly to florida and be there for her too.. im tearing up now just thinking back to 11-07-2006.. trish told me that maxine answered me cause i didnt want to take her to the vets to be put down... and maxine past away in my arms about an hour before her appointment in her bed at her own house.. she is dearly miss by me every day and ithink that i would be alittle more happier with another boxer around then house.. specially roit scince she reminds me of maxine

Take the dog and provide her with a great home. You sound like a responsible pet owner and it would make your dog very happy.

It largely depends on if you're ready to own a second dog. One dog is a responsibily, two dogs is three times as much. Exercise is the most important thing for them, daily walks, at least twice a day, this also helps establish who the dominate one is, which naturally, should be You! The second either dog takes leadership over you or the other dog is when a problem can and, more likely than not, will arise. It's a fantastic ideal, to have two dogs living in harmony, but it takes work from you. Make sure that you're ready to handle this. And if its your dog that you're worried about, (the moping about) it could be that its lacking the amount of socialization that its breed requires. Again, walks may help with this, but a better solution, if you're not ready for a second dog, may be the occasional trip to a dog park where it can mingle and socialize. Basically, the easiest way to put it is, it's not if the dogs are ready, or if they need it. It's if You are ready. Ready to be the leader of a growing pack. If you're ready for that, then the dog will be too.

I think this will benefit you.. her and your dog. I see a win win situation here. You can think two ways about this boxer. You can be sad because it reminds you Maxine. Or you can think Maxine is given you a gift of a boxer. Some things happen in strange ways. For one the two dogs got along, She is moving to FL and needs a home for this Boxer. You can think what a great gift Maxine gave you. Call it fate I sure would.. accept the dog... all three of you will please over the results

It sounds like the dog might be a good addition to your home, especially because you already know that your resident dog gets along well with her. If you're willing to put up with the costs and responsibilities of owning a second dog, I would say go for it.
Good for you for being a responsible pet owner and having your animals fixed, and for encouraging your friend to have her dog spayed at 5 months old.

Sounds like you've already made your decision. I think it's a great idea. They seem to get along well and, as long as at least one of them is fixed, there shouldn't be any problems. It sounds like your current dog really loves canine companionship.
I'm not sure where it is, but there is apparently a place on the planet that doesn't take pets and EVERYONE is moving there! If you decide not to take your friend's soon-to-be-an-orphan, please refer your friend to a Boxer rescue rather than surrendering to a local shelter/pound. They normally get placed in a foster home rather than a big scary pound, they're usually no-kill, and people specifically interested in their breed foster and adopt them.

Sounds like a good plan. You would be doing your friend a favor and your dog would have fun with the boxer! As long as you have the resources to care for 2 dogs, I say go for it.

I love the plan. Take in the other dog. Both dogs will have a fun time, and you'll take good care of them, especially since you've handled 2 dogs before. Go for it!

It sounds like a good plan to adopt the boxer from your friend. I recommend spaying the female unless you can raise a litter of puppies.

I think it's a great idea to take the dog. Your dog would have a new friend to play with, and won't be as lonely when left alone, and you'll have a new baby to love.

Since you already know that your dog and her dog gets along fine, then I don't see why not.
