Though there is no way to know for sure until the time comes I definately believe there is far more out there for us. What makes the most sense to me is the belief that when we die we go "home" and that this side is really the road trip for lessons. There are some very interesting books on this. And personally I can't see this all being for nothing--rather the soul is here to learn, grow and move on.

Most tend to agree that the other side is an extension of here, with all we know but more. With the main difference being that since it is a non-physical world things are done differently. For example building something would be done with planning through thoughts not hand and hammer. One fascinating story I read one was a woman who clinically died who saw her family, a home very similar to her childhood home but how the neighborhood was different. I remember she ended her memory by saying that it truly felt like she had come home and life was perfect. She was horrified when she woke up back here in this life. There are a gazillion stories similar to this.

There are 2 movies that deal with this topic. Even though fiction I think capture the point. One is "Defending Your Life" with Meryle Streep and Albert Brooks. Believe or not at least it is a funny movie :). The other is "What Dreams May Come" with Robin Willaims. The scenery is magnificent and I think captures the different areas but didn't love some things about it.

FYI sort of on this topic, Oprah today (Thur Feb 15) has John Edward and other Mediums talking about life after death and communicating with the dead. Many years ago Oprah tore James Van Praagh to shreds. I hope she has a more open mind today, but should be interesting. And this topic might be discussed since if you can communicate with folks on the other side then it means there IS another side eh?!

The living cope and move on, the dead decompose. That is why life is so important and should be lived with vigor. Don't waist your limited time, trying to convert and restrict other folks lives. Help people with food vs philosophy, shelter vs shouting and money vs meditation. There are too many opportunities to make the world a better place for others, rather than taking the easy way out and preaching at them. My guess is that if you take this approach, and it happens that I am wrong, and there is an afterlife, God will let you in. If not and pamphlet pushers get in instead of you, it makes God a little petty?

Psalm 146:4 - "His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish."

Some are taught in church that Hell is a place of suffering where evil souls go and Heaven is where good people go.

This is not a bible teaching:

Did Abraham die and went to a ever-burning hell? Surely idol worshippers would not be in heaven. Yet, Abraham was with his forefathers, Scripture says.
Joshua 24:2 - "Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor; and they served other deities," Genesis 15:15. "And you shall go to your fathers".

King David was a righteous king he must of gone to heaven? NO?
Acts 2:34 - For David did not ascend into the heavens.

When Lazarus died Jesus spoke to Martha that he was in Heaven? NO?
John 11:11 - Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.

Besides Jesus there must of been some one righteous enough to go to heaven? NO?
John 3:13 - No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man.

When Jesus kingdom arrives he promised the good will go to heaven. NO?
Matthew 5:5 - Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

Surely people who are holy as saints and priests will rule with Jesus in heaven? NO?
Revelation 5:10 - You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth."

finally, the second death (from Rev 21:8) is a location for bad people to suffer in a fiery place. NO?
Rev 20:14 - And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

-The Second death is a judgment not a location. Jesus is promising that those who are not wicked will be resurrected and never die again. (Rev 20:15)

Verdict: Death is Hell. It's the grave where we are like in a sleep like state but have no conscience thought. Waiting to be brought back to life if we have followed Jesus teachings.

In the immediate ....nothing.
We become totally non-existent, as was the case before we were born. Ecclesiastes 9:5,10.
What is there to look forward to?
The resurrection. John 5:28,29.
When the earth has become a paradise thanks to God's 'kingdom' (read: government) the dead shall be re-made and given the opportunity of living forever on earth.
Psalm 37:29.
There are conditions.

No one knows. There isn't a way to know until someone dies for real and then somehow comes back--and is able to remember the experience. Good luck with that.

Well, you either go to Heaven or Hell, depending on how you lived your life, and your beliefs. If you are saved, then you go to Heaven. You might me wondering how you become saved. Here is the answer.

Romans 10:9 says:

"That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

Be careful not to misinterpret that verse. You cannot just say that you believe in God, and then go off and live your life the way you want to. You have to completely surrender yourself to Christ.

Romans 12: 1-2 says:

"Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."

As you can see, you must "offer your bodies as living sacrifices", which means that you must live for God.

Mark 8:34-38 says:

"Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it. What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father's glory with the holy angels.""

If you are not saved, then you will go to Hell. This, obviously, isn't a good thing (unless you like living in fire, burning for all of eternity)

Revelation 20:15 says:

"If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire."

When it says "the book of life", it means a book that has the names of all who are saved in it. If you have any other questions, please feel free to email me.

If we receive Jesus as our Savior, our penalty for sin is paid. We are adopted into God's family, and Heaven is our eternal home. If we reject Jesus, we remain alienated from the Lord and under condemnation for our sin. We are destined to experience eternal judgment. God won't accept any of man's excuses because there is no acceptable defense for unbelief. (Acts 4:12)

In the religious sense, the next thing is whatever your religion tells you.

If it is in the physical sense: decomposition is what follows after death.

You go into the beyond, that is in a world that is beyond the reach of earthly senses. There are seven levels or spheres in this beyond. If you want to more, there is a complete work to read, see below:-
