It could be worms. Even though you had her treated she could get them again and again.
It sounds like it could be hairballs also, I had one cat that did this also. (coughing and trying to puke) but I never saw anything come up. Don't take a chance wondering though cause only your vet will be able to tell you for sure. Take her in soon as possible. Cats can also get heart worms and those will kill her.
I never did find out what caused my cat to do this. I took her to the vet but the cat wouldn't cough while she was there. She was hit by a car soon after, she did not survive. I learned later that this was one of signs of heart worms. I will never know now. I still miss my baby so much. I hope you find the answer. Good luck

Poor baby!

It could be hairballs or perhaps worms again, especially if a worm survived the first treatment. A vet could tell better than we can.

If a search for worms turns up nothing and blood tests have a similar result, get X-rays.

Good luck!

i know you would like an answer, but none of us know for sure. the best bet is to see a vet. and diagnosis the problem right away for her sake. i have a cat named trixie she will be twenty years old soon, and she has never been able to tolerate gooey food, only dry food. once she gets any kind of gooey food she throws it up..i once read there was an intestinal bowel syndrome, something like that, that cats cannot tolerate some foods..but nevertheless it's crucial to get an expert's opinion, all in all you will have her for a long time if you get the right answer from your vet...do it for her, she loves you and you love her.

If cats eat a diet of quality meat they do not have hairballs and don't need "hairball" food or medication.

You might want to go to www.littlebigcat.com and read Dr. Jean Hovfe's article titled "Selecting a Good Commercial Pet Food". It will give you guidelines on choosing appropriate food for your cat.

worms can come back, but you would see them in the vomit or poo....
hairballs can take a week or two to hack up in the worst scenario..... be sure to be diligent: but, a vet visit is inorder to rule out any blockages in the intestines. Kitty will thank you for it.

Are you sure it's not kennel cough?
