she is about a year old & we got her during the last summer from my mom's boss. She runs around like crazy & whenever i go to pick her up or pet her she runs but she loves my parents. I am not mean to her & she used to like me but know she stays away from me. Do you think it's because I was gone alot during the summer so she got used to my parents & not me?

I had a cat, left him home when I went to college, my mom got even more attached than the cat did! He doesn't even remember me. If you want to keep her, spend a LOT of time with her-- cats have a much shorter long-term memory than dogs. Persians are very emotional and they do need constant attention. Your parents fed her-- cats like to be fed. Take control of the food and the play and she will be back in love with you again.

I have a persian cat and i know someone with like 10 persian cats and all the ones i know are crazy.....my cat did the same thing as yours until she got to be older...now she loves everyone (but she still has a bit of a wild side)....try holding her even if she trys to get away and pet her gently...the fact that she lives with ur parents alot probably does make her more used to them

Yeah I think all persians are goofy. But it is probably because you were gone so much. I got married and moved away and left my persian at home with my parents. Now that we moved back he acts like I am a stranger but once we ignore him he comes over and wants attention. He doesnt know how to act when my parents leave because he is so attatched to them especially my dad. Just try and spend time with her and let her come to you. If you chase her trying to pet her she will be frightened of you, so just sit on the floor with some treats and get her to come to you. thats the best advice I have. good luck

sometimes cats feel threatened when you touch them or try to pet them.
and yeah your cat does seem a little crazy.
but thats normal.
sometimes.
iunno...
but your cat probly got used to your parents.
just stay calm around her and maybe she'll get used to it.
it'll take time though.
