hi i am a culinary arts teacher here in Cali.. would u be cooking all these ingredients together , or cooking separately.. if they are cooked together the mash potatoes would burn on the bottom... even if you stacked them after cooking separately the juices from the chicken would tend to alter the bacon bits flavor from your potatoes.. here is a suggested alteration.. crumble the tater tots on the bottom layer with the roasted chicken then top chicken with a little Dijon mustard and finish with fresh cooked bacon bits on top. you could even through in some some grilled asparagus in there too.. good luck and happy cooking... this meal is low fat and could be quick in cooking plus is very healthy..

Hmmm .... well, the bacon bits will get soggy - especially if they are the fake ones and they absorb the moisture of potatoes. I'm not sure what you're doing here... is it a whole chicken, or peices? Is the raw chicken going to sit on the already cooked potatoes as it cooks? If so, the grease from the chicken will drip into the potatoes, and I'm not sure how that would taste. Plus, depending on how thick the layer of potatoes is, they may stick to your pan if your pan isn't greased. The chicken grease may help somewhat. I think I would be inclined to cook them separately. However, if you think it sounds good .... go for it! (I just wouldn't serve an experiment to guests). You may discover something you love!

If you are roasting the chicken from raw, your potatoes are going to overcook and become gummy. What you could to is to roast the potatoes with the chicken then make the mash with the roasted potatoes. If you've never had mashed roasted potatoes - they are amazing - the flavour is wicked.

Careful, chicken can be very juicy, I would make an aluminum foil "boat" for the chicken to sit in and use a baster to remove the juice occasionally...How bout some shredded cheddar on top of the mashed potatoes?

Ugh. I'd rather them separately. But I dont' like my food touching each other..... Individually, each sounds great!
