I've had some really, really awesome steaks from genuine steakhouses, but some of the best (and much less expensive) steaks I've ever eaten were ones I prepared myself.
I use nice, thick ribeyes (1 1/2 to 3 inches thick), rub some salt on them (ONLY salt), and put them on a wire rack. I put the rack over a baking sheet (for drips), and stash the whole thing in the fridge for at least 3 days. Then I rinse them, dry them, and grill them.

You probably won't believe this but Ruby Tuesday's! The Premium Aged Prime Sirloin is like BUTTA! You almost don't need a knife. Cooked to absolute perfection. Add on the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake and Thai Phoon Shrimp you will be stuffed beyond belief and very happy. Before that, it was a toss up between Hungry Hunter and my own cooked at home.

A t-bone at Monty's in Tempe, Arizona. The beef was mixed grazing, from Arizona then corn fed in Nebraska. Next best was a fillet steak in the Manhattan Diner in Kirksville, MO (I don't even know if the Manhattan exists anymore!). 100% Missouri beef.

My most unforgetable steak was Prime Rib during a "date" with
my daughters. I call it a "date" because they insisted on buying.
The restaurant was The Sizzler Steakhouse. Most high grades
of beef cuts are very good---but just how good depends on how
(and who) it's cooked. Enjoy the steak of your choice.

1 1/4" Rib-eyes, seasoned and grilled to the preferences of each member of our family, and grilled on our charcoal grill. To calculate the grilling times for each steak so that they would all come off the grill at the same time we use charcoalbob.com.
